At least for today is co hosting on Sirius with Mark Packer from 4-7. Also, Chris Carlin is hosting the Playbook from 1-4 on Sirius. Must be Rutgers day.

Sounds like Arute is in pre-retirement and Carlin is going to be taking over eventually. I believe Carlin hosts Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Arute and his 'old man radio' rant is pretty funny. Rick Neuheisel is my favorite guy to listen to on their CFB radio shows. He reveals a lot on what goes on behind the scenes at big CFB programs.

2 weeks ago they polled many of the Head Coaches about the value of Spring games and almos 100% said they'd prefer a controlled scrimmage against another OOC team, and that the fans would enjoy more as well. I agree.

Mark Packer is the son of Billy Packer, the AAC radio commentator and has his own CFB website called 'Southern Fried Football'

3-4 years ago Mike Leach was paired with Arute, that was a good show. Butch Davis and Houston Nutt on a lot as well. As you can see they hire many fired Head Coaches and pair them up with regular radio guys. Formula works for the most part.

Rick Neuheisel is my favorite as well. Could listen to that guy for hours. BTW, he interviewed for OC for us the year The Fridge got the job.

That's interesting, I did not know that. He mentioned recently he now lives in NYC , which is kind of strange for a West Coast guy. They do their shows from remote locations (Childers in Tenn) so I guess it doesn't matter where any of them actually live. Leach used to do his show w Arute from his backyard patio in Key West, lol.

In all fairness I agree with those of you who think he will be good at this. He is articulate and he knows the game, he may not coach it well but he can talk about it.

I said a long time ago that Flood would do better on TV than he ever did on the sidelines and I got ran out of town.

I just think it's interesting that, unless I'm mistaken, Kyle has been observing "radio silence" since the firing. As in, he hasn't done any interviews, hasn't interviewed for any positions, nothing. So, this might just be the first time he speaks in a public forum in 5 months. In which case, I am curious to know if anyone will ask him about being fired and why he did what he did, etc.

Flood should due we'll on the Radio. He would also be successful as an assistant O.L. coach for an NFL team. (Assistant to the O.L. coach, NOT O.L. coach)

I really don't think Flood will talk about his firing or the things that led to it...horrible coach but he is smarter than that.

It is possible he interviewed for some jobs very quietly. He seemed like he wanted to stay in the immediate area, and aside from the way his previous job ended, that limits his options. Also, considering how his previous job ended, it is probably best for him to lay low for a while and let the dust settle.

It's the smart thing to do. He cares about RU and the only way to come out and defend himself would be to try and throw others under the bus. It wouldn't be a good look.

XVII.C (page 9)

Should Mr Flood, after he has been terminated by Rutgers, accept a position as a head coach or assistant coach in the NFL or college football, OR ANY OTHER EMPLOYMENT, Rutgers shall be entitled to offset the amount it owes to Mr Flood under this section XVII.C by income earned by Mr Flood in those positions.
ok. Was under the impression we had three coaches whose salary would not be offset. It was reported on another site I believe..Good news

WILL YOU GUYS FREAKING STOP?!?!

I had a lot of problems with the way Kyle did things and ultimately these things hurt our football program...but the GUY bled Scarlet as an assistant and a head coach for 11 years here

He left the program on his final message to the players wishing nothing but success and wants the program to do well.

He will say NOTHING but good and objective things about us on the radio and will be good for our program if he succeeds...

PLEASE LET IT GO PEOPLE...its a new era....

Almost all of the comments here are positive. I think most fans realize what @LadyRU09 said above, and they wish him well.

That is one hell of an overreaction to a pretty positive thread.

If this is the case it will be great for Eastern Football and Rutgers

Probably wrong, but "OR ANY OTHER EMPLOYMENT" might mean in a College or Pro football program.
TV and//or Radio positions might not be covered.
Like I said, probably wrong because it's in black and white and don't see an exception clause, but wondering if TV and Radio work pay doesn't decrease the amount RU owes Flood by the amount he earns doing it..
