Lane Stadium has ALCOHOL but ALL CONCESSION STANDS ARE CASHLESS

Geeeeesh....I thought only Rutgers does things like this? They also:

- have a 12 X 12 "CLEAR BAG POLICY" (but it does look like there are a couple of extra options which maybe RU can follow...) and
- METAL DETECTORS AT ALL GATES

Alcohol but CARDS ONLY
Was at Wells Fargo the other night for Pearl Jam and they've gone cashless. Within 3-4 years I expect all large venues will be cashless. Not a fan of it, but it's not really an issue for me either.

STFU Nuts--that's not me talking, that's your fan laughing at your post. You must be flattered.

Went to Brooklyn for WNBA game, Barkley’s also cashless

Worst arena I’ve been to in years!

And 💯 cashless is stupid.
Let fans pay with credit or cash.

I think the main point was the clear bag policy though.

Concourses in Lane get super crowded
If your remotely claustrophobic, be aware

Recommend getting food / drink before kickoff, before halftime etc and h getting in w plenty of time to spare to experience Sandman

Even Yankee Stadium is cashless now. In fact they have something amazing that I could have never imagined even ten years ago... Reverse ATMs! You insert cash and get back a prepaid debit card for use at the concessions. What a world

So, figure out what you want for the entire 4 hours, get the prices at each stand and use your phone calculator to get that exact amount. Seem reasonable? Exactly what they're counting on people not doing.
Just another creative way to bleed the average fan.

Cash is legal tender & should always be accepted. I don’t get how they get away with that. What happens when “the system” goes down like happened to me at a convenience store about a week ago? Cash only..

I've noticed a lot more places refusing anything over $20 bill and preferring cards. I assumed BlackRock (CCP's US branch) was pushing it in corporate HQs. I looked it up and its true. None of this is about "convenience for the peeps

BlackRock CEO knocks US payments system

It’s a scam and the facility knows it and “banks on it”
You going to calculate the exact cost of your purchases before you put your $20 in ?
100000 % a money grab
Just like pretty much everything else these days, especially in regard to sports

I look at it like this though
You're from NJ, you make the trip down south, hotel/meals/tickets/gas/etc. runs you ~$1000, once you're finally inside the stadium, you're going to want some beers (if you drink) - after having a few in lots tailgating, you'll shell out the $100 for the prepaid cards and then you and your buddies will have beers all game

Throw in a win, and you'll look back thinking what an awesome time - not that there's $5.47 left on the prepaid card

Wait

The debit cards issued at the reverse ATMs are only good for the venue they are issued in?? Seriously? That seems VERY wrong if true.

It’s very not true. Don’t believe whoever posted that.
Another reason to not actually believe outraged strangers on the internet.
Never left facts get in the way on airing a grievance on social media.
It’s much easier to display ignorance for all to see.

“The prepaid debit card can be used at any food or retail location inside the Stadium. Any remaining funds left on the prepaid debit card can be used anywhere that Mastercard is accepted.”
