This looks like the best option.

Four starters that are capable of hitting the 3.

Great post defender in Myles with a very athletic big man off the bench in Cliff who can be the C late in games, too, to avoid the hack-a-Myles strategy.

Caleb is a lock-down defender off the bench to come in and make life miserable for anyone on the other roster that is looking too good on offense.

Young is a microwave off the bench, although he ran hot and cold (to mix my metaphors). He is also a very good defender.

I'm tempted to cheat a little and say Gavin over Young, although that leaves only one real PG and that is not ideal.

Cliff obviously has the higher ceiling but felt myles was more of a sure bet night in and night out. Such a great passer from the post.

I probably go

JY
Geo
Ron
Yeboah
Myles

Aka the 2020 team which imo was pikes best ever. Shame we didnt get to see that team in the tourney. I think they had a run in them. Mathis, caleb, shaq carter, paul off bench. Such a great team.

In terms of who was a sure bet/who could you count on night and night out im finding it hard to side with Myles.

Cliff averaged 30.3 minutes this year, Myles played at least 30 minutes only 11 games his entire career. Cliff played 919 minutes and 1030 the last 2 years, Myles season high was 731 minutes. So we couldn’t really count on Myles to even be pin the court like we could Cliff.

Cliff 2.0 turnovers per 40 for his career, Myles 2.3 turnovers per 40 for his Rutgers career.

Cliff had 13 double doubles last year. Myles had 16 double doubles in 3 years.

Cliff averaged 3.6 fouls per 40 career, Myles 4.7.

Cliff 58.2% career free throw shooter Myles 39.7% (I personally don’t care about FTs but this board does).

Not saying Myles was bad by any means; got a lot of rebounds and was a pretty good shot blocker, and a mostly efficient scorer, but he definitely wasn't more of a "sure bet" as I think about it more. Myles was actually extremely unreliable because of foul trouble, I'm sure people have forgotten pike benched him in stretches of 19-20 20-21 to protect him from early foul trouble.

Great question

Starters: Geo, cam, Ron, Eugene, cliff
Bench: JY, caleb, yeboah

Leaving Myles off was the hardest part

Interestingly most rosters only have 1 player from this years team. Some have 2. Most have those players on the bench while some have one starting.

Baker
Spencer
Harper
Yeboah
Omoruyi

Caleb
Young
Mag

Yeboah was a stud player, team mate and calming presence on the court. It’s a shame RU only had him for a short period and he missed out on NCAA tournament because of covid.

GO RU

If we are talking 2018-19 til 22-23,

Starters
Geo 18-22
Paul 19-23, will pass E.Jordan #1 assists
Caleb 18-23
RHJr 18-22
Cliff 20-23, higher ceiling than Myles

Bench
Myles 18-21
JY 19-21
Eugene 18-19

Eighth could be between Eugene(18-19), Akwasi(19-20), and Mag(20-23) and 7th between JY(19-21), Mathis(18-21) and Cam(22-23), but Eugene is in the NBA, and JY had a bigger 2 year impact than Mathis in 3 or Cam in 1.

Mag(20-23) is a honorable mention just for the importance of his 23 game stretch last year, we make the tournament without the injury, will easily replace Eugene by next year if he returns to form by the end of next year.

It’s not really that interesting. Nobody is going to pick GG, Noah or Davis. They have not played a single possession for us yet. Simpson and Wolf will be sophomores. How many of the guys people are picking in their rotations would’ve been selected going into their second years? It’s hard to say who willl step up. Mostly everyone is picking Cliff. Paul does some good things but his strength is his versatility. You wouldn’t need that as much if you were able to hand pick 8 players across multiple teams (obviously that’s not real). Hyatt and Mag haven’t even been consistent starters so again, it’s not surprising people aren’t picking them amongst top 8 recents.

I enjoyed watching him play this past season and he put up ridiculous numbers in some of them, but overall he had quite a rollercoaster season. Fans overvalued his contributions and gaudy shooting numbers against mostly inferior teams, and he mightly struggled offensively and defensively against more athletic and/or talented teams, especially backcourts. I can't put Cam's 1 season's stats in my top eight rotation for the last 5 years based on what he did and who he did it against, outside of the game winners @ Purdue and @ NW, memorable yes top 8 worthy over JY no.

Anyone leaving cam or Eugene off their lists are just doing so because they’re bitter that they left

I agree on Eugene. With Cam, it’s debatable. He’s an excellent shooter, but there are a lot of other areas where he falls short and grades out sub par relative to many of these other guys. He gets a lot of steals but otherwise is not a strong defensive player. Doesn’t have good footwork. Can’t create shots for himself or others. If your playing a fast paced up and down style, Cam’s role would be less important than it was last year with forwards like Ron on the floor who could shoot.

Yes but elite spot up shooting in college is very hard to come by. Theres a reason he is being pursued hard by uconn, Miami and ucla. That skill set fits into any scheme.
