Wrestling MATCH THREAD: Rutgers 🤼‍♂️ vs. Ohio State

Billy Janzer out at 197lbs, taking on Gavin Hoffman. If Janzer gets a win here, it will force Ohio State to get a bonus point win at HWT

Janzer win and HWTs stay off their backs and we might pull this off

Rutgers challenging a takedown attempt by Janzer on the edge. Call was that Janzer was out of bounds. Official confirms the call, no takedown.

Wow John Poznanski already looks like an All-American contender. If guided right and developed properly, he'll be our next national champion.

I respect your passion but pulling money for not wrestling well is a terrible idea and not something any respected coach will do

Agreed, but it is a two way street. Any wrestler has the obligation to uphold his end of the deal too.

Romero abusing grello....Wow

Grello probably leads Rutgers in escapes each and every year he has been in the lineup. That's not a good category to be first in.

Grello is another one.. absolutely no development and progress. Yes, I know he is wrestling a top guy but he literally looks helpless and has no shot to do anything but get majored once again. Zero fight or desire.

We need to look elsewhere as well.

I agree with this and it goes applies retroactively for the past three years.

Hasn’t taken one offensive shot.

For the last three years!!!

Janzer and Hoffman go scoreless in the third period. Hoffman has some tough defense.

Janzer will start the second period on bottom

Not to be a stick-in-the-mud here, but I have heard that Aguilar has a doobage problem. Kind of feel like he's going to be another waste of talent like Glasgow.

No score the rest of the second period. The score remains tied at two a piece.

Janzer on top to start the third period

Janzer has done nothing this entire match. He just tried to see who was stronger. Horrible match by him., ridiculous for him to do nothing against an unranked wrestler.

Hoffman upsets Janzer in a huge match for Ohio State. Ohio State is going to lead 16-14 heading into heavyweight

Ugh, very disappointing performance from Janzer. We had this dual in our sights and wasted it away. Need to be able to count on guys to close out matches.

Christian Colucci taking on Tate Orndorff to decide the match. Orndorff beat Colucci by a one-point decision and a major decision in 2019 when Orndorff was at Utah Valley

Unsurprisingly, the guys on this team who don't constantly attack are the guys who keep losing and holding the team back from that next level.

Scoreless first period for the big men.

Colucci taking defense to start the second period

I don't put Janzer in the same category as Grello and Aguilar, as he works hard and fights but needs to develop some offense very quickly or he won't ever make that jump.

No score the rest of the way.

Colucci leading 1-0 heading into the third, starting on top

An Orndorff escape ties the match, until Colucci gets hit with a second stall call. Onrdorff leads 2-1 with about 1:20 remaining

Orndorff gets what is most likely the dual securing takedown.

He leads Colucci 4-1 with forty seconds remaining
