He wasn't a hire by Pikiell, he was retained. In doing so, he kept several of the key pieces of this team here. And the 2 best pieces of your 2016 Class (Thiam and Sa) were all Shoes. So maybe you need to come into reality.
Shoes's son and others in this thread should not be making accusations unless they are willing and able to state what happened. This isn't some hushed rumor of distant programs building their rosters via side deals and shady business. We are talking about something that has just happened with a specific recruit and specific program. Folks should either lay their cards on the table and go on record or be quiet.

The hire refers to the head coach who retained a guy whose reputation far outweighs his results. Rutgers fans should demand results not make excuses. Pikiell Shoes all of them do your job.
Signs we will see if the program does turn around will be mostly in the form of "participation trophies." Those "participation trophies" hopefully become real trophies.
People have to be realistic about this program. Bill Parcells once said you are what your record and kenpom ranking is.
Hard to argue a 5 point home loss to a Indiana or Michigan State this year wouldn't show massive improvement over last year.

Eh good recruiters always seem to find a way. It's probably going to take some "creativity" (see Seton Hall) to land some hot prospects considering RUs current state, but it certainly can be done.

I am happy Rutgers does it the right way. You can do it the right way and still win recruits. I trust my alma maters program to do that. If they cannot, I will find another thing to do.

Not going to land every prospect. I doubt past staffs would have even made it to the finals ... If they even tried. Keep taking your cuts and eventually we'll land one.
My brother went to GT. I've been to their arena ... It blows the RAC away. Might be hard to believe but some kids might like playing Duke and Carolina every year. Our staff is solid, and by all accounts working hard on the recruiting trail. We'll get some wins.

Let's end this narrative that we fight the good fight and run a pristine program, but when others land a kid they are all cheating. Whether it's true or not, couldn't care less, but it's such a haughty excuse.
