When we play top tier teams, I don't think it is about winning.
It is about competing.
(Maryland is currently a top tier team)

When we play lower level teams, getting some wins here and there is important.
But the main thing is the coaching staff has to show a baseline of improvement (even if a clunker is thrown in once in a while).

Showing improvement and being able to sell that plan to recruits is the most important thing now (not winning).

I understand what you are saying but its based on wishful thinking not reality. For over a decade Rutgers has consecutive losing seasons which has translated in worse recruiting and poorer performances.Showing improvement in some fans eyes is a feel good concept which has very little relevance with recruits who want to play in the NCAA Tournament on a regular basis.Winning is the only thing that matters in sports and losing is the reason coaches get fired every 3-5 years.Rutgers needs to get out of hibernation and face the stark reality that power conference athletics requires recruiting at a level not seen at this school for a very long time.

Agreed and last night hurts you with recruits-----losing a close game doesn't.
