Missouri vacates entire 2013-2014 men’s basketball season due to NCAA violations

I found a quote in an article at NBC Sports from a Top 25 coach.

He said there's a saying among coaches that they'd rather get fired for cheating than losing. You'll always a find a job somewhere if you win games.

Sort of sums up the sport don't you think?

Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Sampson, Tim Floyd....etc etc

According to a statement released by the MU athletic department Wednesday, MU has imposed a one-year postseason ban for the 2015-16 men's basketball season. That prohibits the team from participating in the 2016 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament and any other postseason competition sanctioned by the NCAA. The statement said that means the university will not receive any revenues from the 2016 SEC or NCAA men's basketball tournaments.
It also said the university has vacated all wins from the 2013-14 season as a result of this review.

I always got a kick out of punishments affecting past seasons. I'm not sure what their purpose is...especially if the team did not win anything.

so courageous for them to take a post season ban this year...of course they are pretty bad it will not make a difference

What about North Carolina? This is a joke that they still have not received any punishment at all.

tOSU did the same thing with O'Brien--and Thad Matta went out and got the #1 recruiting class in the country. Wow they learned their lesson, huh?

I think this may be the second time in ten years for violations at Mizzou.

Irony about Pearl is that he committed secondary violations but was hammered because he lied to the NCAA. He got a five year show cause penalty. During the time he was sidelined, one of the rules he & his staff broke doesn't exist anymore (unlimited calls/texts to HS juniors).

Sampson knew that he had been sanctioned and still tried to circumvent the rules.

Tim Floyd was not found to have violated NCAA rules if I remember correctly.

Now there are two programs, that Frank Haith ran, that have been caught violating rules.
