I wasn't at the game cause I took my wife to a concert. I was pleasantly surprised to see halftime score and knew we would be in it at that point. R Gameday is terrible for keeping up but I couldn't believe when it changed to 69-68 with 3 seconds....and then the text of WOW from my son. (you kids..WTF does WOW mean lol). When I got home at midnight I watched the last 13 seconds...RIP OUT MY HEART AND FEED IT TO LIONS. My God, I've seen way too many of these. What did we ever do to get this treatment?
BUT. If you didn't believe it before. After these last 3 games you need to know Rutgers Basketball is back and relevant again. My God. Honestly. We could have actually won all three and perhaps should have. I think Pike missed a couple of opportunities at Illinois and that inbound, BUT if that is the price to pay for where he has this team and these kids..sign me up for the trade. This is over achievement and player development.
GEO. The "bashing" was he had to play better for Rutgers to win and be the guy with Gene. When he's shooting 40% we are there, when he's 25% we're dead. Last three games 42% (30% from 3) 4.2 Assist, 3.7 TO (6 and 2 last night!) and 4 bounds per game. Its never been about potential. Its about consistency. I watched the first 5 mins of game this morning and THAT is Geo the star/Stud. He was leading under control and flying everywhere for steals and rebounds. I couldn't be happier. I hope he's found his 2nd wind.
I'll be at Minny and PSU. I hope the place stays electric. This is a team you can root for and be proud of and frankly has earned A TON of B1G RESPECT FOR RUTGERS.
