He posts on this board. Cop disguised himself as a tipster and then they agreed to meet and he arrested him. NB continues to give banana republics more governance ideas.

So it seems that Kratovil violated a restraining order related to a domestic violence charge involving him and his ex-wife. In order to arrest Kratovil, the cops needed to find him. So they found him using a lure he'd respond to. Kratovil wasn't arrested for his reporting or responding to the tip. He was arrested for violating a restraining order.

I'm not sure how this is different than police pretending to offer free Alabama-Auburn football tickets to lure and arrest child support deadbeats http://blog.al.com/montgomery/2011/08/gotcha_auburn_police_lure_dead.html

I doubt they needed to pull this little stunt to arrest the guy...
I have no idea. I would imagine that the police will say they tried to find Kravotil at his residence and office, and after being unable to find him they tried this lure.

Picked him up at midnight, delayed his bail hearing...they really got a lot of mileage out of this one. But, the message was sent: don't bring a thrown-out ticket book to a City Council meeting and demand action ever again.

I read the article earlier today, but it didn't seem like anything "board worthy" and rather a personal matter. Having met and talked with Charlie on a few occasions in the past, along with some of the circumstances surrounding the details and timing of his arrest - I am inclined to believe his side of the story and not the NBPD's.

After reading what Upstream wrote I tend to agree.

None of our business here.

Upstream nailed it.

While he has uncovered some good things, his "reporting" style is akin to another rutgers alum, James OKeefe. He's too over zealous trying to find the next big scandal, often when one just doesn't exist.

I don't agree with with what O'Keefe did but I would also disagree with this type of tactic to arrest him. The NBPD really pushes the bounds again and again.

I don't think it's out of bounds. If there's an arrest warrant, they can do what they have to do to arrest you. Truthfully, after listening to the audio I scratch my had as to why he would meet someone at 11pm to get a "name". It could have been delivered over the phone, and if this person had real info, why in a million years would you meet in the town you're looking to dish dirt on.

It sucks the kid got locked up, but common sense would have avoided this incident for him.

Clear case of retaliation on the part of a pretty dirty department. Examples are too numerous to list.

It starts at the top with the double dipper Tony Caputo and goes down.

Charlie is the only person who tried to hold this corrupt city accountable. I hope he keeps fighting the good fight despite this screw job.
