Put this in my recap thread but I think this deserves its own thread

it underscores a couple of things....

RU played outstanding defense on a very potent Nebby offense...vs players who were longer and more athletic. Lost in the disappointment of losing a winnable game was the defensive effort was tremendous except for those back to back 3s and the inability to snare a rebound in the last two minutes on defense.

It also shows that RU can keep themselves in games by counting on their bread and butter when the offense is struggling and that they did getting the lead cut to just 2 and having the ball.

However RU simply didnt take advantage...16 points in 12 minutes is not a great output and RU simply didnt make Nebby pay for their missed shot. Credit the Huskers for seemingly gettng back in transition so RU didnt get anything easy but RU had several chances to hit big shots and didnt.

As I said in another post, They can't take advantage of defensive stops on the offensive end. They play there ass off on the defensive end. It's amazing to me they can even stay in these BIG games with the offensive deficiencies!

Very good point. RU did almost everything right tonight, but still lost because they could not get the open looks to go down. Thiam has probably never missed so many wide open 3s in a single game. I’m starting to think we’re just cursed.

To me it seems Issa lacks confidence at times. I think when he misses a few he seems hesitant and affects the next shots he takes

I agree but he was wide open on a few of those 3s tonight. I honestly think he has made some great strides in his game this year. It's funny but sometimes I get the feeling he doesn't realize how good he is on the court.

Not when you miss wide open shots. Go watch the replay.
I agree there were a lot of clean looks. But sometimes when you're facing a team with athletic/long guys you see/feel ghosts. I'm not in Issa's head but that's my point.

Maybe that was it! Very frustrating as he was slowly increasing his three point shooting % and I think he was up to 42% in conference , and then to have that 0-7 was just nauseating. I really believe if he hit just one , we win and if he hits 2 we definitely would have won.

Bac...it just maddening we have lost FIVE games giving up 62 points or less ...(MSU in OT counts on my list)

If we had an AVERAGE shooting team ...we would be 16-6 or 17-5 instead of 12-10.

The defense keeps Rutgers in games but the talent of opposing league rivals is superior to Rutgers which results in wins for them and losses for Rutgers.Bottom line the woeful half court offense makes any remaining game home or away a difficult challenge for achieving a win.I would like to see more pressing/trapping because layups should be easier than jump shots for this team. The inability to even score 60 points against B1G opponents shows the need for some easy baskets to win close games.

but we do not, we are what we are...its not going to get better, the shots will not fall and these guys will not become better shooters...need to really land a great class for 2019....like beyond the level Pike has done for next year

If Thiam had just starting driving to the basket more, but hopefully he’s put it behind him mentally because even Steph Curry only shot 38% from 3p his last year in college, lol.
