We had some hand-wringers commenting earlier that GS needed to be extended so that he can effectively recruit the uocoming class(es).
Nick Saban had an interesting line in the Pat Maccaffey show on Monday. He said that a recuit challenged him this fall, asking if he'd guarantee that he'd be at Alabama for the next 4 years if the recruit commits. Saban responded with, in the era of the portal "Will you guarantee that you'd be at Alabama for the next 4 years if you commit?"
SO the point is, the talking point of long-term coach contracts being a prerequisite for effective recruiting is an outdated concept.
