Due to heightened security at this week’s @rfootball game, no bottles or beverage containers of any kind will be permitted into the stadium.

no wonder why RU cant get game day Police enforcement, student tailgate figured out...does Met Life stadium have same bottle restriction this weekend?

Ludicrous. I need to consume a certain amount of water for a medical condition. So, I am in for $12-18 bucks for the pleasure of drinking their bottled water without a cap?
Contact the athletic department. I am sure they can make arrangement to accommodate your medical needs.

I have been to Michigan, PSU and Nebraska and am heading to tOSU as far as B1G stadiums go, have also been to Arkansas. All have a no bag policy and no outside beverages allowed.
Fair enough, than we shouldn't cry about this.

From the Metlife website:

Carry-In Policy
Guests are welcome to carry-in the following items into MetLife Stadium:

  • Food of any kind that is contained in a clear plastic bag
  • Factory-sealed, plastic bottles of water or soft drinks that are 20 oz. or less in size
  • Still-photography cameras with a lens that is 6" or less in length not contained in a case
  • Hand-carried jackets, blankets, or other items, which will be patted down or searched

SERIOUSLY. Get a Note from your Doctor. You have the entire day in which to do it.

This seems like a pretty standard stadium policy that we are just catching up on.

Not out of the norm. I work for the New York Red Bulls and our bag/bottle policy for Red Bull Arena does change given external circumstances. We do make arrangements for those with medical conditions, so I'd definitely recommend placing a call to your rep and asking. In dealing with an outside concession vendor, as we do at RBA, I can tell you it's not as simple as just lowering the prices on concessions game to game.

Hopefully, once authorities assess the safety in gameday operations after this game, they'll revert back to the normal stadium policies.

Does the stadium have water fountains or offer free cups of water?

"Water Fountains
Water fountains are located throughout the public concourses at Michigan Stadium. Please ask any Michigan Stadium Event Team Member for their nearest location. In addition, free cups of water may be obtained from any concession stand with soda dispensing capability."

I'm more convinced this has to do with people emailing the Athletics Department complaining about why they can bring in frozen water bottles but not get a cap at the concession stands. Just don't know when to leave well enough alone.

We have water fountains, but no idea about the stands being open to handing out cups.

I too busy to go through that nonsense. Michigan gives free cups of water at concessions. RU should do the same, or reduce the bottled water to $2. I am not going to die, but I am supposed to consume water throughout the day. I'll down a bunch during the pre-game, and get one bottle from concessions and nurse it.

Buy one bottle inside and fill it with fountain water as needed. Not a big deal compared to everything else going on around here lately...

There are water fountains. I have never waited in line to ask for a cup of water.

They lost the recipe for water, and forgot how to prepare it--thus increasing the time to get a cup water. I'll live buying one bottle before the game and refilling at the fountain as needed.

I present....the collapsible camping cup:

That's because there aren't any.

There should really be at least two upstairs on each side. But I'd settle for one.

People do realize bombs were being set off in our area over the last week right? Surprised to see all the "same old stupid Rutgers" comments given the situation.

Not to necessarily discount the serious security situation in the tri-state area, but I have yet to see someone successfully incorporate any sort of devices into see-through, factory-sealed bottles of drinking water.
