Question for the wrestling mavens on this board: I am curious why a dominant wrestler like Nick Suriano gets so many technical falls and major decisions without getting pins. Is it a function of style, the way others wrestle defensively against him, or other reason(s)? I assume pins are much harder to come by in college, generally.

I am a casual wrestling fan at most, and don’t know much of the strategy or tactics of the sport. And I know he was unstoppable in high school but didn’t follow him.

The short answer is that he just isn't a pinner. He looks for points primarily through takedowns and backpoints that he happens upon through his takedowns. On top, he doesn't seemed to be geared towards turning and pinning his opponents. But, yes, it's harder to pin in college.
