No. 12 Wrestling, No. 11 Lehigh Collide in NWCA National Dual Championship Series/Match Thread

I realize that's his style.but he has to improve his mat awareness
if his match was the deciding factor tonight, we would be all pissed
I'm sure coach g will have a teaching moment,,,,i like the kid, and
is really doing a great job in his first varsity action...the old saying
you win with the sword, and well, you get where I'm going with this
he will be better next year with all the action he's seeing this year
another non state champ making a statement, about how are
coaches are coaching these kids up. I wonder how much cael
has to coach suriano nolf, nickel ,hall ect,ect ect.up...one season
coach G is gonna win coach of the year, and man he deserves it.

i like this for Phil and to rest Nick in a team match that is out of hand barring a crazy couple of pins

Part of me is wondering if he'll wrestle 197 or not. But it is what it is. Overall a meaningless match. Wonder what happens if Van Brill wins and whatnot.

I dont think he will, should be a winnable match for Correnti

Gravina at 197.

Correnti was favoring his shoulder a bit at the NW match (at least it appeared so to me). Rest might help him.

My takeout from this match? Minor changes and we can beat Lehigh. We wrestled incredibly poorly tonight and still was points away from a win. Anyway, congrats to Lehigh who was obviously the better team tonight.

Ugh tough loss. Wish I had stayed home and got some work done instead...

pagano came to wrestle tonight, and made a statement. I saw the kid he
wrestled at the southern scuffle. he was beating hall from psu well into
the 3rd period dominating him.....then boom ,hall reversed him, and
stuck him.jo rdan should move up in the rankings.wouldnt shock me
if he aa'd this year....really!

Have we ever gotten a signature win on the road? Seems like we never can get over the hump outside of the RAC.

By the way, my "few points for a win" would have been: Pagano gets the 4 point near fall instead of the 2 point near fall for the major (very close), Van Brill doesn't wrestle sloppy at the end of his match (very disappointing), Bak pulls out the OT win (very disappointing), and Gross pulls out the OT win (eh, not as expected, but could have). That doesn't include the possibility of DelV pulling the upset. That's a lot of close matches, all of which went to Lehigh (Pagano no major).

Of course, maybe Paetz gets teched, so you can't just play the what if game one way.

man some of you guys really don't take losing very well.

I don't know what you all expected. Lehigh is really good. Van Brill was a minor upset but Pagano had a much bigger one over Priesch.

some guys didn't wrestle their best but that's how you prepare for B1Gs, NCAAs and next year.

also felt for Bak. Love the move of getting him one last match. very solid career, he should be proud of it.

RU Fans just want to have a big time winner in anything this year ... I think we have only 2 teams with a winning record all year (wrestling and women's soccer) and have lost 83% of the games in B1G competition this year ... Need Ash to win his weight at B1G or NCAA, or Brown win the 400 ... Would be nice to have a champion or championship in anything.

Sadly we were outclassed, outsmarted and out toughed in all but the 3 matches we won. Lehigh came to wrestle smart for the most part. JVB should have cut that guy with 30 seconds or so to make it 1-1 and he had time advantage. Just don't give up a reversal and boom, reversal. It was not our shining hour.

JVB and Theo losses were both damning. Win one of those 2 and Correnti would've had the chance to rip the hearts out of Lehigh in the heavyweight bout.
