Look, no disrespect, but you have reading comprehension issues. I'm not putting down the defense. They were in an untenable position, when we lose 22 out of 25 FO. They were exhausted. Reread my posts. I have them props, even though they were not as good as they have been in the recent past. You’re wrong in the D. If those tables are reversed we put up 15-20.
Face offs are a very important part of Lacrosse which puts Rutgers at a disadvantage in the number of possessions and shots on goal.I would hope this is a priority in recruiting..Can’t believe how bad our face offs were. Both guys got schooled. Hope the transfer we have next year is good!

Sorry Cali, and I know you played for Rutgers, but lacrosse is not exactly that hard to figure out. Again, what part of my posts disses the D? I said they played hard but were exhausted. What lost us this game was the FO issue and not having enough possessions. If we had won even half of the FO we would have won this game going away. One doesn't have to be a long time fan of lacrosse to figure that out. Our two FO guys didn't get it done. Period. They were better than they have been. That’s the point. You don’t know what you are looking at so I’m trying to help you.
Putting up 10 with 19 more possessions means the D was incredible, especially with what they did to Maryland on offense having the ball half the time.
Our face off guys didn’t. But our D did. And just some friendly advice. If you want to sound even somewhat credible, learn the names of our players. It’s not too hard to figure out. Doesn’t show up in the stats but Edelman was incredible. He makes crazy hard saves look routine. He has such good awareness. Defense played well given the circumstances. But one thing is clear, OSU wanted it more than our guys. We got out hustled up and down the field and I thought it was the sloppiest offensive game we’ve played all season in both transition and 6 on 6. I just don’t understand how, with all the seniors on this team having been through the last two seasons, they could allow themselves to be flat in this game and once again be at the mercy of the selection committee.
We would have to have A LOT of things fall our way to make the tourney if we lose to the Terps. Given past history, I wouldn’t count on it. Even if we win we’re not a lock. The only guarantee we have is to win the next two.Doesn’t show up in the stats but Edelman was incredible. He makes crazy hard saves look routine. He has such good awareness. Agree!!! If they win this game, think they are a lock to be in the big dance. If they lose to Maryland, do not think they make it in, or do they deserve it. You get what you earn.
Yes! Overall very poor effort in the Clutch, with the exception of Edelman & the D until they got overworked.Doesn’t show up in the stats but Edelman was incredible. '83 I should have clarified myself better regarding "unprepared." In the first quarter we looked unprepared. We looked as if we were sleepwalking. I never said our D lost us this game, in fact I complimented them considering they must have been exhausted.RuMan- you certainly seemed to dump on the D. You said they were unprepared, said they were porous that Rowe got beat not once but like 5 times and goalie wasn't sharp. . We typically give up maybe 8-9 goals a game, given time of possession, shots on goal and how tired they must have been it was a great defensive effort and as I said they did not buckle. I know we are all frustrated, and we should have won this game but the D was not the problem. We have one more chance to show that we belong.
Yes, you're right. It's not Rowe but Rexrode. My bad. And Edelmann spells his last name with two n's not one. Got it. But this still doesn't diminish anything I stated. Our face off guys didn’t. Though I like Brecht a lot, am also beginning to wonder about the coaching. Hope I'm wrong as well.I think this is our only path in.
Now have to win the B1G tourney.
Play inspired, and we can beat all three of the other teams. Coming into any of these games having lost to the opponent gives us a chip on our shoulder.
I think it’s always harder to beat a team twice in one season, unless you are clearly better.
We can create this path, but we have to be inspired and play our best. I’m starting to doubt Brecht’s ability to use the talent that is on this team.
Hope I’m wrong.
People criticizing Brecht need to look at what he's accomplished and stop they crazy talk, as he has significantly overachieved. No one's perfect, which is what some here expect, but he's excellent. He's been recruiting well, especially for a significantly underfunded program, and his style of play and coaching have been great. Can't blame him for the decades of futility in our athletics dept. People want us to finally win it all and aren't being fair or objective.
He has the least warm seat at Rutgers.I am one, who while watching the game posted that I was losing faith in Brecht. There is no excuse for that performance yesterday. Yes he has done a nice job building the program back to the point of contending for an NCAA tournament berth. And he has receive accolades from me for doing so. However, regardless of whether we got screwed the prior two years by the selection committee, this was the year, with a senior laden team, that it was reasonable to expect us to get over the hump clearly merit and not leave it to the committee to decide. Losing AC was a bummer but there was still enough talent to make the tournament. Now it still may happen, but performances like yesterday do no inspire confidence that they will go out an beat Maryland. I am not suggesting a change but if they don't make the tournament it will be difficult to see this season as continuing to make progress or as a success. Therefore if his seat gets a little warmer as a result so be it.
I'd argue Goodale's is colder, but Brecht is definitely 1A in terms of coaches with the strongest job security at RU.He has the least warm seat at Rutgers.
I would say Mike O'Neil pretty much lives in Antarctica.I'd argue Goodale's is colder, but Brecht is definitely 1A in terms of coaches with the strongest job security at RU.
Point is all 3 coaches aren't going anywhere outside of a major scandal. Now if we have a FO coach, his seat might be nuclear.I would say Mike O'Neil pretty much lives in Antarctica.

Dude has been fighting with massive under funding. We just got the full allotment of scholarships 2 years ago. Can you answer me this...do we have a dedicated FO coach? If not that needs to be a position created within the staff, if so that individual needs to be fired.Alums drive the bus in Olympic sports. I can’t speak to wrestling, but Brecht is viewed extraordinarily highly. This is all stupid talk. The better question is when will a long term extension be signed.

Brecht and Goodale are miracle workers. Along with O'Neill, they run the 3 best programs at Rutgers.Dude has been fighting with massive under funding. We just got the full allotment of scholarships 2 years ago. He’s the best coach we have.
The "no excuse" is nonsense. Bad games happen for all teams and coaches.I am one, who while watching the game posted that I was losing faith in Brecht. We have one. You'd think the way we play offense we would be able to land top grade talent at the FO position. Like I said, do we have a FO coach? If not, alums need to fund that position pronto.
I know nothing about lacrosse, but it sure seemed to me that on many of those face-offs the Ohio State face-off man was managing to intentionally direct the ball to his long stick teammates – – so that few of the face-offs were really50-50 ground ball propositions. Was my lack of lacrosse knowledge causing me to imagine something that wasn’t really happening?Well there is no excuse for not winning more faceoffs but let's not forget that about half of the faceoffs are not clear clean wins but won by fighting for the ball and getting ground balls . A good percentage of the time the ball gets checked out and it's the LSMs that fight for it so it's not just one individual.
No we do not currently Coach Padilla works with the goalies and the face-off guy's. generally you kind of have a guy who can do one or the other pretty well but not great, I think Coach Padilla does an excellent job but I am not sure that face-off's are his strong suit, also face-off guy's are kind of quirky and they have a very specific way they like to do things, I think that face off guys are even more specialized than goalies. In all honesty face off guys are about match ups a lot of times, you may have a great day against one guy and a bad day against someone who did not fair well against the guy you crushed. I believe that PSU's face-off guy had a good day against OSU and we had a good day vs PSU. sometimes it is just about the matches, sometimes it is about wing play and winning ground ball. I know that many of you think that face off's are as simply and clamping on the ball and pulling it out but, I assure you it is not. Cali is right BB has been trying to address the face off situation since Nards left and he brought in 3 guys last year including 2 frosh and a transfer and he is bringing in another one next year. Can you answer me this...do we have a dedicated FO coach? If not that needs to be a position created within the staff, if so that individual needs to be fired.
