We’ve seen enough games at this point, we’ve seen enough of his lack of aggression, inability to create……they expected big things from him but he’s a bust. Pike swung for the fences, but it’s clearly a swing and a miss. This team has a lot of issues so it’s not all Noah’s fault, but he is definitely a big issue.

Yup- big mistake by bringing him in and hinting to paul that he’s lost his point guard role. Paul on this team gives us the ball handling, leadership, toughness and offense for Cliff that is missing. Bet we’d also have another win or 2

but everyone bought into the faster play. Silly.

He scored 17 points against Ohio State. The problem is that Rutgers players have one great game and then disappear the next game. The end result is long scoring droughts with the team failing to come back from double digit deficits.

The worst portal play in Rutgers history!
I think it is fair to make that assessment. If we are to trust the reports (not sure how true all of it is), Paul wanted to come back. Essentially he was told “No, we’re good, we got Noah now”……once again, I don’t know if this is all true. But assuming it is, Pike doubled down on Noah and obviously it’s been a losing bet.

consistenly mediocre

but its very fair to say Noah is a bust
Is Noah the only one underperforming? I agree he has been bad more than not, but he is not the only one. Just that hopefully a couple of them have more time to get it corrected. Hyatt has been this boards whipping guy since he has been here. He is the least of our problems.

Consider that we are just into the BIG where play is guaranteed tough. Noah has pretty much been a non factor and it is not going to get any easier.
Iowa owned us in the paint. They showed little difficulty in scoring while we looking like a student driver trying to navigate rush traffic.

Of course others are underperforming, but I stated “This team has a lot of issues so it’s not all Noah’s fault”……..HOWEVER, considering what he was brought in to do, considering how many minutes he gets, the expectations for him, it’s fair to say that he has been a bust. Others suck as well, no doubt…….but expectations were high for Noah, thus his sucky play this year has a much bigger impact than say Wolf’s sucky play, for example. Either way, the dude has been a disappointment and a bust.

You know who else has been a bust. Chol. For all the hype he can't even get off the bench on an offensively challenged team, and he's supposed to be some kind of great three point shooter.

The only hype Chol gets is from a hack beat writer who needs to fill out a story and needs to try and flex his "I was at practice, you weren't, so I know more than you" inferiority complex. Remember when Carino tried to tell us Reiber was going to start at the 4 last year?

I don’t disagree but he has zero impact on on court performance this year, his butt is firmly planted on the bench. He does not impact wins and losses this year. The guys playing have that impact.

To be fair, you might want to take a look at Paul’s stats, watch a couple of their games, and check out the fan reactions to him on Twitter before proclaiming him the missing piece.

He is way over his head at times… could he be a guy to give a blow to another starter? You have to feel for the guy as he just isn’t gonna get it done.

Always loved when Paul backed his man down inside… we don’t have a tough guy… Freeman , Perkins and Kricke were Iowa’s tough guys . Mawot deserves more as does Cliff … could see Mag going elsewhere after this season. Personal opinion after 14 games.

I replied to zap in that comment because he said he’s “the” one guy we should move on from
Fair enough, my bad, I will say that Noah’s poor play, lack of scoring and lack of aggression has had the most impact when you consider how much playing time he gets, the expectations Pike had for him, it is having the biggest negative impact. Come on now, did we have big expectations from Wolf this year?? Chol??? Oskar?!?!?!! Come on, who are we kidding here?!?! Noah has brought very little positive play outside a couple games. Cliff has been a huge disappointment as well, but at least Cliff can get some boards (I know, I know, Cliff had a zero rebound game) and block a shot. Noah literally has been a ZERO on the stat sheet twice in the past 8 days…….he was not brought into a Power 5/6 program to perform like this.

Look, we’re not moving on from Noah anytime soon this season.

The question for me is whether we can win B1G games this season with him at PG. Instead of penetrating into the paint for a short feed to Cliff or a kick out to others he seems to struggle on the perimeter to get open at all. This is a very bad sign for us imo.

This is true. He’s been slowly wearing out his welcome in the Pacific Northwest too. Still, he’d be better than our fun-sized guards and he’d make Cliff much better too.

He gets 3 squares per day , a cot and medical care. He gets free grad tuition and probably NiL stipend … just a little tough but he should be much better and he’s not. I expected between Fernandes, Simpson, A Williams to give Rutgers solid not great guard play … the cry will be wait until next season …

And yet we win 2-3 more if those two were still here …10-4 better than 8-6.

Slowly? He’s two months into his first season out there.

Our guards vs top 100 opponents 23-24
Derek 2pt 17-46 37.0% 3pt 3-13 23.3%
JMike 2pt 11-37 29.7% 3pt 3-9 33.3%
Noah 2pt 17-40 42.5% 3pt 7-22 31.8%
AWill 2pt 10-18 55.6% 3pt 3-6 50%

I think Austin Williams has earned himself a start vs Indiana. Now to figure out the starter with him.

I begged for him to start weeks ago. Not because of his amazing talent, but he plays with toughness, defends, actually plays with some Balls out on the court, more like players of recent seasons. This team needs any and all toughness it can get, plus Williams can also actually take the ball to the hole and score.

They don’t but the coach has to start teaching exactly what he wants and expects from his players in practice.
There’s no reason to waste time on Noah at this point in practice

I get where you’re both coming from. Not performing and not coming back next year. Definitely the biggest drop off from expected performance to actual performance. Very disappointing, hopefully he and the rest of the team can finish the season strong.

NF has 0 or 1 pt in three out of the last five games. It’s hard to believe.

I hope they play AW more and minimize the backcourt combo of NF and DS playing together. That combo is too small for the B1G.
