Northwestern/Chicago State halftime score.

Is that Drake Coffee Cakes or Devil Dogs? Wonder who Chris Ash is pulling for in that game?

Minnesota escapes 68-67

I know transitive property doesn't apply and every game is its own entity. But I can't help feeling like I had the wind taken out of my RU sails watching this last night. Minnesota owned us while Drake gave them all they could handle. Drake beat Wake Forest so they aren't terrible but this leaves me more concerned about our ability to win 6 league games.

I am with you. However kenpom has us winning 6. Other thing to consider is in the middle of a long B1G schedule you will have teams not playing with the utmost intensity. Our defense and offensive rebounding will give some teams fits.

looking at things (by the way we were downgraded to 5 over the past few days). My recipe for 6 is 5-4 in the *** games and 1-6 in non *** games.

each game is different...games where you think RU has the best chance to win will become dogfights like Nebraska and maybe a game that RU should not win is a game where they play very well and the other team is off their game..say Northwestern. Always hard to gauge the opponents mindset coming into the game...sometimes in the past schools came in and were not hyped for playing RU and we didnt get their best effort and RU was able to hang around. Sometimes teams are laser focused. Have to be able to strike when the opponent is vulnerable.....Wisconsin is the biggest example this year. Its a winnable game for sure but that does not mean RU will have some trouble winning...the Wisky slow down defensive style can hurt us as well. Thats going to be the first league test to see if we are ready to win not just compete in this league

We struggled with NJIT then blew the doors off FDU. All depends on how you're playing that night.

Chicago State BB has never been any good.
It would not surprise me if the school closes if state funding dries up

I've been feeling the same watching Minnesota, but I really think something must be going on with them chemistry or otherwise. They have also had some injury issues in these recent games. They DO have a lot of talent. One of the B1G talking heads, before they started losing, said he thought they have the best starting 5 in the league. They are much better than they have shown recently.

I hear you, Lou, but the one thing about our Minnesota game that people are now forgetting is that we were AHEAD when Deshawn Freeman went down with that injury in the 2nd half. The injury LOOKED potentially season-ending initially, and it completely threw our team for a loop, leading to the Gophers going on an 11-0 run or something like that. Luckily, Freeman's injury was just cramps, and he returned, but he was completely ineffective thereafter. We never recovered from that big run.

The point is, I think that game would have gone down to the wire had Freeman not gotten injured. It wasn't so much his absence from the game that hurt us, but the fact that our team became completely distracted by a seemingly serious injury to one of our leaders (who was playing really well in that game, by the way), leading to the big run from which we never recovered.

Why do I only count 4 wins? How is this your recipe for 6?
