On The Banks Article: You want patience Eddie?

The media is trying to gin up the issue, proding Hobbs to come out, defend Eddy's comments and to give a vote of confidence. I don't see Hobbs doing either. They will then use his quiet as an indication of EJ's future.
I feel for Eddy. I don't think he deserves any more pressure. Things are bad enough.

This is a results-oriented business. I think it's reasonable after year three - when history is littered with programs that progress quickly - to wonder why we're in the position we're in.

If it wasn't for the injuries this would be an absolute slam dunk that Jordan should be gone at the end of the year. The injuries at least give me pause, but there isn't anything I'm seeing that makes me believe that even a healthy Rutgers team would be winning more than 2 or 3 games in the Big Ten. And that can't be acceptable.

If we could bring in a coach who could turn this thing around fast, I'd be all for it. But please, enough with the Dan Hurley nonsense. He is not a good coach and would do no better than the coaches we've had for the past 25 years.

Or in this case people are reporting facts.

I will always like Eddie, but his comments went over the top. He needs to understand that our fans and alumni spend money on his product. Some spend alot of money. We love our school too. I get that he is a player's coach but he MUST respect our point of view. As far as replacing Eddie, it does not make sense unless we are willing to spend the bucks. My thinking is at least 2MM, plus assistants. I like the approach of getting Chris Ash. Get a top level assistant from a top level program (e.g. Duke). Lets see how the season plays out. Be competitive and win 2 games?

The only time I hear his name is from the posters who don't want him.

There you go again.

What, a direct quote that explains motivation? Anybody has the right to lobby for their favorite coach.

When Rice was fired I wanted Maiselo....I even sent him an email at his Manhattan.edu email address suggesting that he should go for the job. Of course, He never responded. He probably knew fans would call for his head a few years into a long rebuild.

They reported the facts yesterday. They're re-reporting them again coupled with the obligatory Politi op ed. They'll probably report them again with a reference to asking Hobbs for a comment. At that point they're not reporting facts, they're inciting a mob.

We're all upset at what Eddy said. It was completely uncalled for, especially for someone who really cares about the school and program. I was upset yesterday, today I've moved on.

The Bball program is in terrible shape. No conference wins, player suspension, and now Eddy's attacking the fans. Hobbs knows this and will make his judgement at the end of the season. It's pretty obvious Eddy has very little chance of being retained, especially given the way his contract is constructed.

The SL doesn't care about the program nor do they care if it's successful. If the case were otherwise, RU athletics' coverage would be handled differently. I think what they want is another scalp. For all of their whining about Julie taking pleasure in that newspaper folding, they seem to relish the idea that they had the power to force Rutgers' hand and get person X fired. I don't appreciate them attempting to instigate themselves in a University matter, especially one that involves a honorable person who's also an alum. Let the kids and Eddy have the rest of the season without being hassled.

End of diatribe. (Not aimed at you at all Ruman. I actually enjoy your posts).

The media is not inciting a mob.

It's just getting up to speed with our hopeless fan base. The lousy coaching has been discussed here for months

I think they've been well aware of the terrible state of our basketball program for a while. Now they smell blood in the water.

You are 100% correct. The media had been more or less content to ignore our dumpster fire of a program and 26 straight conference losses, mainly owing to the general lack of interest.

But now that Eddie has foolishly offered juicy quotes attacking his own fan base, there's a story to be had. The diatribe also puts his AD on the spot, since he will then be put into a position of offering a public show of support or deferring comment... thus furthering the story. If it leads to additional reporting that sheds further light into the deficiencies of his program, Jordan has no one to blame but himself.

Politi stated the facts.

Those facts presented in a column are hard to swallow. Hard to look at.

But it's the facts
Anybody quoting Politi or agreeing with whatever he says on anything Rutgers is a complete fool. Ask Nuts!!!

Small time posters on a message board and I guy with a blog...that's the story. In this day and age people who are angry they don't matter in life like to find ways to start problems.

Resort to Personal attacks because the truth hurts

Dude. The article by Politi literally reference the season ticket holder with blog and message board posters. I'm not resorting to personal attacks in simply referencing the cited sources in the article...

Yeah. Think about that.

Right, because the "problem" is the complaining on message boards and blogs, not a 26-game losing streak and record-setting losses.

"Small time posters" who "don't matter in life." Sounds personal to me

good lord we are starting this problem.....0-33 vs rpi 250, 5 wins in 38 games, 26 game Big 10 losing streak...carry on as if none of this is going on, your magic wand will erase it away

You're too invested to understand what's actually happened. Outside perception gets it. National media understands. It's just Rutgers fans who think its their birthright to have the worst college basketball program in the history of NCAA basketball after the Rice issue who think a 3 year turn around with 7 or 8 scholarship players with only two over 6'4" - should instantly climb to a .500 team in conference play at the snap of their fingers.

I hate to break it to ya but you're the one in the bubble man.

When reality hurts too much, just attack the fanbase. You can't blame the Eddie supporters... They're only following his lead.

I'm interested in seeing links within last year where national media says Eddies doing a good job.

I've quoted two references in the past neither of which say Eddie is doing a good job (which I didn't claim) but that he deserves more time given the circumstances of which he took over and the injuries.

Agree to disagree then.

There is no way injuries are the problem here. We lost 15-straight conference games, several by 20-30 points, with a healthy team.

2014-15
Jack, Mack, Etou, Lewis, Daniels, Doorson, Williams, Foreman, Kone

2016-17
Sanders, Nigel, Willîams, Freeman, Laurent. Who's playing the 5? Foreman? Doorson? Diallo?

The first team won two games in the Big Ten and 10 overall

Not saying Eddie’s doing a good job as the RU MBB HC but this article says we shouldn’t give up on him because of the mess he inherited and injuries this season

Big Thought: Rutgers is a mess, but Eddie Jordan deserves more time - Men's College Basketball Blog- ESPN
>Yet, for as bad as Rutgers has been -- and Rutgers has been so, so bad -- it also feels too early for anyone in the athletics department to start seriously pondering their head basketball coach's future.

Why? For starters, this year's team has been decimated by injuries. Just six scholarship players remain healthy and active on the 2015-16 roster. Five players are currently nursing injuries. Things got so bad Jordan had to ask 6-foot-6, 210-pound freshman Jonathan Laurent play center. Which went about as well as you'd expect, right up to the point Laurent suffered a concussion.

Those injuries take some of the stink off of a 6-11 season, but even if the team were healthy, it would still feel a little bit early. Jordan hasn't even coached three full seasons. He's also an alum. Coaches are big boys, highly paid professionals, and Jordan, having been an NBA coach, surely knows a thing or two about impatient bosses. But the long-term project of rebuilding a basketball program is not so easily undertaken in three (or 2.5) seasons.

Especially at Rutgers. Especially at the Rutgers Jordan inherited. It's hard to remember now, just how big of a deal the Mike Rice video abuse scandal was, but it was a "Today Show"-level mess that all but guaranteed prospects and their families would at least subconsciously associate Rutgers basketball with that dude who threw basketballs at players in practices. You don't come back from that in three years. You can't get it out of the bloodstream that quickly.

Rutgers plays at Ohio State Wednesday night, and they'll probably lose again, because Rutgers is bad. It's a mess. But if any coach hired in the past five years deserves the requisite amount of time to fix the mess that predate him, here he is.<

If you're going to criticize a post, at least have the decency to have read the whole post including
the top portion that shows why the post was made and understand the question being answered was about finding something in the national media longer than 7 games ago.

Don't be so quick to jump on a post you don't like until you check out the whole post and see why it was posted. I made sure what B1GNJHoops said so everyone would know why I posted an old article.

Actually nothing in that blog post from Eamon suggests Eddie has done a good job.

You are right and that's why I started out my post like this: >Not saying Eddie’s doing a good job as the RU MBB HC but this article says we shouldn’t give up on him because of the mess he inherited and injuries this season<
But made a major mistake by not stressing Article "Not saying Eddie’s doing a good job " and that could have been taken as my opinion.
Put that article in to show that ( at least one) the national media understands why Jordan isn't winning at RU and not knocking him for it.

One. And our best season was the year after Rice, btw. Why should that matter now?
