OT: 2017 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tourney - RU is out

Duke wins 18-8. Rutgers & Army will be the first 2 out. F Denver. And F Syracuse and Notre Dame for losing to Carolina to screw RU.
How about F Rutgers for losing at UDel and getting their asses handed to them at Hopkins and Penn State?

What was RU's best road win -- UMich? Fairfield? Schedule couldn't have been much better with SB, Army and Princeton all at home.

78,Delaware was a bad loss.

Again, losing to B1G teams on the road is an expectation in this league.

Penn St.? Rutgers played 3 OT's against the number 1 team in the country and had to travel to face a rested PSU team on Senior Day.

They are expected to win that game every day of the week against anyone now.

How about Hopkins losing by a bunch to Princeton? A Princeton team that we beat. Do we not get credit for that win?

You do know Monmouth made it and they lost to Delaware. Right. Take a look at their schedule they played 1 top 20 team Hofstra and lost. Too many AQ's for such a small field. AQ's are fine in b-ball when you have a 64 team field but not 8 in a 16 team field. The format is outdated.

Cali do you have any insight on the OOC schedule for next year or is it too early.

I don't, though I wouldn't expect it to change too much. No acc school would play us after we reached out to every single one last season- p*ssies.

We have a super long history with Army and Princeton. They will be on on it. Brown was a 2 year deal and we only played them once so we will be at their place.

I honestly wouldn't expect to see really any changes. Perhaps sub out NJIT, if anything.

That's really the issue. Using the tournament to "spread the game" is antiquated. There is too much being put into this now by a number programs, including ours.

A school like Monmouth and Denver have much easier roads to the tournament than a school like us.

This is where Delany has to start muscling in and taking control...whether it's getting his guys like Barry Alvarez on the committee or even Hobbs or something else, but changes have to be made.

Of course ACC schools won't play us. Because they rather go lose to some team like Denver where it won't hurt them. Lacrosse is so screwed up that beating us won't benefit them. Look at UNC's schedule. They did a whole lot of losing. But it's against perceived power teams, so it doesn't matter

No question. Lacrosse is still controlled by a small group. We absolutely need to infiltrate the committee.

Ring... Ring... Ring...
Syracuse: "Hello"
Rutgers: "Hey Orange, it's the Scarlet Knights, how about we schedule you in lacrosse?"
Syracuse: "Is this the same Rutgers that has repeated turned down our request to schedule a football series?"
Rutgers: "Yes"
Syracuse: CLICK

see how that works

Not sure what one has to do with the other.

Syracuse lacrosse was asked and declined to renew the series. Like every other wimpy acc team. #scared

And for good reason.

They even said on the Show the Top 16 teams aren't in which is absurd. How can anyone take the tourney seriously if several of the best teams aren't even in it?

Seemed like we had a golden child...even with the loss of a goal scoring machine before the year started.

We were on a mission. We won 8 straight and we were #1 ...with a bullet.

Then the losses.

Not throwing rocks ....just wishing next years team doesn't lose focus and remembers the
last two years. We should be dancing. LAX could be the first team sport (not counting the women's 1982 b-ball win, it was similar to the NIT, i.e. not the NCAA's) to win a NC for Rutgers.

Here's to next year's team!

Go get 'em!

MO

One way Delany could start shaking things up...forcing the ACC to start an ACC/B1G Challenge. Nowhere to hide if that happens.

Every ACC school turned us down because a win/loss to us is not perceived the same as a win/loss to Hopkins, Denver, Loyola, etc. Hopkins could go winless and a game verse them would still hold more value than a game against us.

It's almost like we either have to go undefeated or we have to win the B1G. That's the only way we can get in.

It's unfortunate, but we have to break the door down to get in. We will be highly ranked preseason next season. We have to be better than everyone. We will get no benefit of any doubt.

So when Syracuse declines a offer to play Rutgers in lacrosse it's because they're pussies/wimps (your words). But when Rutgers declines to play Syracuse in football it's business.

Umm ok.....
OOC in football is also totally different. Two bottom of their conference schools playing each other does nothing for both schools

I know there aren't enough D 1 teams to support a large tournament, but with all the automatic bids it's a joke that the consensus No. 12 team in the nation doesn't make the NCAA tournamanet. Makes NCAA lacrosse look pretty silly.

Rutgers: "Hey OrangeJC, it's the Scarlet Knights' moderator, how about you take a vacation?"
OrangeJC: "Well I really don't know where I would go, any ideas?

Fruit's analogy is stupid. Football has hundreds of programs. Lacrosse has 71 I believe.

If Sarahcuse had tried to schedule every B1G team and they all said no, he might have a point. But that never happened. Nor do I believe Rutgers turned them down...which frankly, I am glad we did if true.

Seems like we have to either win the B1G and/or go undefeated to make it.

So be it. Our best team on paper maybe ever is coming back next year. Just do it.

So we've weren't even the last team out.

Now that's fvcked up. When beating a team head to head and having a higher RPI has no merit in the committees eye's. It's time for a new committee when they don't even follow their own criteria. These selections seem more haphazard than following a set of criteria. This makes no sense at all.

There should be an 8 team Lax NIT...the top 8 teams that didn't get in were Rutgers, Army, Hofstra, Nova, Providence, Richmond, Brown and Binghamton. Here's my 8 team Lax NIT...first 2 rounds are played at highest ranked team with the Final played on Monday morning before the NCAA Champ Game on Mem Day.

#1 Rutgers vs #8 Binghamton 8 PM Friday on BTN (Hobbs would ask for a Friday night game to get RU Stadium set up for graduation after the game)
#2 Army vs #7 Brown
#3 Hofstra vs #6 Providence
#4 Nova vs #5 Richmond

And we beat Army. Something that Duke couldn't manage.

If they didn't sh*t the bed, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Ignorant statement. They didn't "shit the bed". Quite the opposite.

Show me a team in that tourney and I will show you warts. The real issue is too many AQ's for small conference teams.

Agreed. It would at least be a good way to force change. Travel costs wont be too high either. All NE schools. NCAA wil be forced to change tournament rules or lose revenue to others.

While the lacrosse topic is still at hand, why are we playing our lacrosse games at HPSS? its way too big. The atmosphere are Yurcak would be way better. Any chance games get moved back to Yurcak again?
