OT: 2017 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tourney - RU is out

HUH?

It's one of the criteria supposedly used in selecting at large bids per the committee. That's why we strengthened our schedule this year and the reason they used to keep us out last year. Past laurels and favoritism are not part of that criteria but seem to be what the committee uses most. Remember UNC made it at 8-7 and the ACC doesn't have an automatic bid.
And if the criteria they tout is really valid, explain how Army was the next team under consideration and not us.

Maryland National Champs!

For what it's worth, you guys got screwed, but this is the kind of thing that will help build RU prestige for next time during the selection process.
Funny thing is every B1G school outside of Michigan is capable of going all the way, and watch Michigan blow up fast when they hire an ace coach. Get in and get hot.

Yep B1G with BTN, has really done a great job of building a national contender lacrosse conference.
This is why we can't stand pat...continue to get better or else. LOL

Something tells me we definitely deserved to be in this tournament. We beat one finalist and took the other to triple OT. Man, whoever's on this committee needs to get their head's out of their asses. They should be ashamed of themselves.
WORD! pisses me off.....

Unfortunately, that's not the case. RU certainly could have competed against any team in the field, as proven by 3OT games v OSU and MD. But they could have been a quick out, as shown by bad loss a Del and lobsided losses to JHU/PSU. Short season and a bad loss or tough loss can cost you. Pitt beat Clemson and Penn St last year, doesn't mean you ignore the rest of their games.

We also beat Brown, Army, Princeton (who embarrassed Hopkins). We had one bad loss. Delaware. Hopkins away and PSU away are not bad losses.

On almost any day, we had FF potential team this year. It says a lot considering our schedule didn't set up that great and we lost some serious talent right before the season started.

Look out in 18. On paper it's the best team we have had at RU...maybe ever.

We need someone to step up on D, be relatively free from the injury bug which we took on the chin this year, and have the returning come back ready to play at a high level. Then, look out.

My rule on lacrosse is to accept anything you post. I still remember you correcting me in February or March, when I scoffed at the suggestion that the B1G was anywhere near as good as the ACC this year. You told me that the B1G was better, and man, were you right!

It really blows that Rutgers didn't get in. I said on selection day that they were more worthy than North Carolina, and I still feel that way...

I remember that exchange. Good to be right on this one. Dethroning the acc is a huge accomplishment. Should have bet on the games. I went 100% with my predictions this year. Seemed like an obvious one though.

Another thing to consider is how the B1G "decided" they were going to be a good lacrosse conference.

They said let's do this and boom goes the dynamite.

What does Mike Singletary say....

I was stubborn because of all my years as an ACC guy, I guess. the B1G should have been a 5-bid league this year, and the ACC a 3...

A big thanks to Maryland needs to be had here. Lacrosse at Maryland is high profile (as it is becoming at RU). When they left the acc, a concern was their lax program and having a real home. Bringing Hopkins on board was a real consideration offered to Maryland. They would have very likely come regardless, but Maryland lacrosse is considered a jewel there. They were going to do what needed to be done to have the program put in a good position. Mission accomplished.

Think RU needs a good FoGO guy to take the next step. Faceoffs were a problem vs JHU and PSU if I recall correctly.

Had to look that up.. face-off, get-off... maybe find a football player? I don't know much about lax.. but those faceoffs seem a battle of strength with a fast-trigger reflexes.

As a former FOGO from before the term was invented, fast trigger reflexes are the #1 priority. Especially true with today's rules limiting what wing middies can do.
