OT: 2022 NY Giants Season & Post Season Game Thread

I'd say pay them both as well. Not break the bank but an upper mid-tier salary, I don't think they'd command much more than that on the open market. Maybe Barkley, but RB's have a short shelf life so I wouldn't break the bank for him. Jones seems to work very well with Kafka and vice versa. No weapons and porous line and somehow they made it work for Jones best year.
Get Jones a couple of play makers and he may turn out to be special.

If I had to pick one to resign it would be Jones. The RB shelf life is just not to high. Both concern me health wise though. One would think Jones would run less with more competent receivers. The main question this week will be do they play the starters vs philthadelphia? You cant coach scared but have to be smart about it.

After all the injuries they have had, I would be shocked if the starters play more than a series. I also think a few guys will get the day off to rest.

Id like to see at least a half from the starters. We haven’t been great in the 2nd half of the season so Id like to see them build some momentum off of the Indy.

I just don’t think we are established enough to take a week off just before the playoffs.

I do agree on wanting to sign both but if I had to take one it would be Jones. More important position, RBs witht eh short shelf life and I think Jones has more upside while we Barks is at his peak.

Need a playmaking WR. A solid TE is essential but likely not the big-play guy. #RememberSchockey
And Bellinger is a good TE. That is just not a position of need. WR is out highest need. Would be pretty surprised if we don’t go WR with our top pick.

Quenton Nelson is a future HOF guard who often embarrasses defenders playing him
Dexter Lawrence totally manhandled him - wow.

No love for Isaiah Hodgins or Richie James ?
Or Wan'Dale Robinson ?

Them guys u listed are #3/4 WR’s include Slayton in that one. They definitely need an upgrade at the position. Not sure if they will spend there first pick on it though

Robinson could turn out to be a #2. But there is a need to upgrade.

2 critical drops in the Minny game. I doubt the PFR data is accurate.
He's been one of the best pass catchers this year. 538 has him 6 overall in their catch rankings. PFF has him high up there as well. It's been a strength for him all year except the Minny game but he's not going to catch 100% of passes thrown to him all season.

Not really. Yes the Seattle game was bad fumbling punt returns. Besides that he only has 1 fumble as a WR. Also only has 3 drops all year per PFR.
I think the punt return fumbles(think he had one earlier in the year as well?) adds to the negative light on James as a receiver.

But he, like the rest of the receiver group, is best deployed as a depth guy.

Of the current group, he looks to be the 3rd best of the WR. 4th if we include Robinson. And again, this is not a great group. Maybe he's better then Slayton? but I def have Hodgins ahead of him.

Interesting article on Giants OC Kafka

"..shortly after the news was announced, reports from NFL Network revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles had an interest in Kafka as an offensive coordinator, but that was blocked by head coach Andy Reid and the Chiefs."

Looks like the cards all fell right for a change. And a big thanks to Andy, way to stick it to those asshats.

Absolute joke sitting so many guys and allowing a hated rival to waltz into the #1 seed! Not only should 10 wins still mean something, teams that do this, do not make it out of the first round.

Eagles are motivated. They need and want this win. Today's game is meaningless for the Giants, who just need to be all-in and healthy for their first playoff game. Lose a battle. Win the war.

Eagles about to set a record for sacks in a season. Play Jones with the Giants OL and their playoff spot locked in? I don't think so.

In case of injuries some player rests are ok but otherwise I've seen rests backfire
In Tour de France there are only a couple of days off but riders put in a few hours anyway because if they take a whole day their bodies go into healing mode and close down.
I like a team that rides hard into playoffs (like Giants did)

Yes I'm fine with resting injured players, but at least try to win the game. The Eagles won this game before kickoff. I think Madden is rolling over in his grave.

Historically teams that rest practically everyone lose in the opening round.

I'm fine with it. If someone was to go down(Jones he's running no matter what they tell him) Daboll would never hear the end of it. Game sucks but the backups are holding their own.

I'm also fine with Washington winning 20-6 over Dallas and Dallas isn't resting their starters.

Is that because of the rest or because they typically aren't the better team in the playoff game? This gives the teams that don't get a bye week a chance to rest up the same way the teams that are the 1 seeds (and previously 1 & 2 seeds) get a chance to rest up. Plus having to deal with 6 road games in 7 weeks in order to get to the Super Bowl isn't exactly a picnic.

Defense has done a very solid job today.

I’m fine with this knowing that we’re 99.999% locked into Minnesota next week. That’s a winnable game.

The $18 million dollar TD catch for Golladay

22-16 is not the easy win the Eaglles were looking for against a lot of 2nd and 3rd stringers

My take- the is NOT a SB team- so, you play this game to win and make a statement.
If a guy does get injured, as much as it sucks, you still go balls out when you didn't expect to make the playoffs in the first place= if we were 5-12 who would we have played?

Giants shouldn't give a flying f@ck about anyone else than themselves.

Same as Philly tanking the Washington game for a better draft pick.

Number 1 priority is your own team.

We were trying to protect our guys and do what we needed to do. It was an awkward position to be in but if Giants fans want to feel great about that, so be it.

As an Eagle fan I would love to play the Giants again.

Huh? You played your starters the whole game but were trying to protect your guys? WTF kind of logic is that?

Umm, the plays called and how they were executed. You don’t follow the team week to week.
