They really need to blow this mess up.
C'mon man, you know that is not possible. Lindor is immovable. Diaz is immovable. Nimmo is immovable. McNeil is immovable. Marte is immovable. So exactly what is it that you want to blow up?

Sevi and Q are tradable but minimal return. Senga would have been a possible trade piece but not after the injury. Pete? Trade value decreased over time.

I’d rather see moves like Vientos staying here. Wait to see what happens when Senga and Alvarez are back,

Stearns inherited some bad contracts and will have to work around them.

Lindor contract leads the way!

He’s a good player / solid supporting piece ( albeit not this year to date) but is very far from a franchise player or anywhere near so.

His contract is a big problem for which Mets unwisely tendered him as a franchise type of player.

Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Just in the 3rd week in May, and the Mets are a 1/2 game back in the Wild Card as if that even matters at this point in the season. What does matter though is Steve Cohen stating changes could/would be made at the Trade Deadline. Fans need to stop thinking this is a team still owned by the Coupons! This is an owner who helped get the Mets to 101 wins just 2 seasons ago. Yes they crapped the bed the last week. LFGM!

While I agree that Lindor is overpaid- and is having a crap year- are some of you saying that a SS that over the past 2 years- 22/23 that had been elite defensively and basically a .265 100+ runs, 26-31 HR, 100+ RBI 20+ SB is not elite? Oh- and plays every single day

A dose of reality, if I may. The team and the system is what it is. The current roster has strengths and flaws that mean that it won't win or compete for a world series. The system is better than it was but not so much so that it is anywhere near where it needs to be. So . . . there is no answer this year. There just isn't. And there was no answer last off-season that would have put the Mets in the World Series this year. There was only the opportunity to sign this player or that player to a huge contract that the same people who called for those signings would later belly-ache about as players who can't be traded without unloading salaries.

The Mets need to fix themselves, and they have needed to fix themselves ever since Brodie Van Cell Phone took over and did stupid things, including nothing to build the system, and Eppler came in and just wasn't good enough.

The fix must be from the ground up. The incredibly good news is that, maybe more than any time in recent memory, the Mets have a baseball guy running the show who knows what he's doing, a president of baseball operations who has an actual history of building a successful team and system and doing it with drastically fewer resources. And an owner who doggedly didn't give up until he could get that guy after three years of trying to land him or one of the few other options like him. And now he's got him. And he's got money.

The future is brighter right now, in my eyes, than it has been for many years. So belly ache away. We all know who you are. And then, in a a couple of years, when the smart approach--the necessary approach--starts bearing fruit, feel free to act as if it's the result of the Mets finally doing what you wanted. It won't be. But at least you'll finally be happy.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy the baseball. I'll enjoy Citi Field, one of the best ball parks in baseball, one that has the added benefit of not being in Philadelphia. And I'll enjoy the turnaround, one that couldn't have happened overnight.

I disagree with your basic premise that everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. The major thing that can go wrong for a team is injuries. Mets have had only two significant injuries - Alvarez and Senga. And MAYBE Mauricio. Although if healthy, there's no guarantee that Mauricio would have even made the club, much less be a major contributor.

A far cry from 2021, when the Bench Mob kept the team afloat for much of the season.

However, if you meant that some of key players have underperformed and will turn it around... well I agree that they've underperformed. The other part of it? We'll see.

What’s gotten better ?????

Playing a horrible marlins team , make something happen .

Ryan Clifford????
Cmon man get with the program

The batters eye was bad and the wind was always blowing in.

LOW expectations
LOW standards

beLOW average results

I’m not all touchy feely about being only 2 games back of the last wild card

Ryan Clifford????
Was doing well overall. He's not a high average hitter and as I stated a million times Brooklyn is the hardest ballpark in the minors for lefty power hitters and yet still had a 126 wRC+. Parada for instance is at a 65.

No you're just wrong. He had a .412 OBP in Brooklyn. This isn't a future .300 hitter.

Actually great timing on this article from BA. Don's let facts get in the way of a good rant.

He's a raw prospect with a huge bat and hit .271 before going to Brooklyn . Also BA is not the be all end all. He has big time power so they need to develop it. Whether he does or not we don't know but moving him up from Brooklyn to Binghamton made sense on many levels. It would not for Parada which was the original argument.

Keep in mind what “fans” often miss- he is in Brooklyn- a LH hitter graveyard…baseball players are mental slaves…when an angle or speed is determined by .01’s it affects away numbers as well

I'll keep track and see if his numbers at AA improve any by mid June because we need to get some corner OF prospects on the come up in the worst way. Early on I had hoped that Alex Ramirez had turned a corner but he's tailed off after a nice start.

In my eyes, Ramirez has always been an empty uniform.

Paul Skenes is ridiculously good.
Left with a no-hitter for 6 innings. I remember when that Braves pitcher did that some had issue with it. Anyway lets just hope it doesn't just wind up that the Pirates develop him just for him to wind up with the Dodgers, Yankees etc before 2030

Please go root for another team then.

Never
I Will watch every game this year as I did last year and tell YOU every time they embarrass themselves

Then stop acting like a baby. We all knew this team wasn't winning 100. The organization has a new POBO who understands how to get a franchise to win and now he has unlimited resources behind it. Give him more than a month and a half. You're embarrassing yourself.

Nut, you do sound kinda whiny. But then so does John Harper, and he gets paid for it. So, all good.

I have no clue about Stearns' standards and expectations for this team. I do know that the part about zero accountability is untrue. At least that's what Joey Wendle told me, and he should know.

Luzardo is who he thought he was - a solid MLB pitcher having a bad year, but capable of spinning a gem at any time. Last night was that time. John Harper knows that. But whining sells better, I guess.
