OT: Big Heatwave/EDIT: Debbie passes well to west but band of showers and squall line and tornado watch to get thru

officially my first heatwave...some not so lucky

Monday: 90
Tuesdsay: 95
Wednesday: 93

should bump up a bit tomorrow and Friday...Saturday has potential more cloudiness and perhaps some showers moving through that might keep highs closer to 90

Sunday though may be the hottest of the heatwave with highs in the mid to perhaps upper 90s

The CPC thinks the heat will continue for July...

Atlantic City no hotter than 84 degree. Very strange
Talked about this earlier. You can really see the influence of the S/SW winds off the still-cool ocean/bay in today's map (and same has been true the past few days) of high temps in NJ, with highs in the upper 70s into the low/mid-80s along Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and even inland 5-10 miles from each.

Anytime I hear the phrase "one hit wonder", I think of him first.

A couple of things: Mungo Jerry was a band, not a person. In The Summertime was their first single, it was a worldwide #1 hit which is why it finally got exposure in the US. The band was out of the UK, and had a number of other hits after this one in the UK territories (Aus, NZ, Ireland) and in Europe, but nothing ever hit the charts in the US.

Around 2013 I rode my bike in confirmed 107 F. That was in NY where the governor just excitedly reported that NY had never hit 100 F before.

Yesterday the drivers were really sloppy and bad. Three localish fatalities that I know of. Way too many state road construction projects (part money laundering operations) in small areas.

NY/NJ Records

New York

- All-time highest temperature: 108° F (Troy on July 22, 1926)
- All-time lowest temperature: -52° F (Old Forge on Feb. 18, 1979)
- All-time highest 24-hour precipitation: 13.57 inches (Islip-Long Island MacArthur Airport on Aug. 12–13, 2014)
- All-time highest 24-hour snowfall: 49 inches (Watertown on Nov. 14–15, 1900)

New Jersey

- All-time highest temperature: 110° F (Runyon on July 10, 1936)
- All-time lowest temperature: -34° F (River Vale on Jan. 5, 1904)
- All-time highest 24-hour precipitation: 14.81 inches (Tuckerton 2 Ne on Aug. 19–20, 1939)
- All-time highest 24-hour snowfall: 32 inches (Rutherford on Dec. 14, 1915)

Yeah Kathy is a special kind of a stupid liar

Had our company picnic yesterday, just too damn hot to do anything in the sun other than go in the pool. Definitely cruel to be out there. Spent the time in the shade or in the pavilion.

Excuse me. "I think of them first".

lmfao at the fear mongering i just heard today...oooh we may never have summer olympics again..its going to be too hot...bahahahahahahaha
What? We had a WINTER Olympics in friggin Sochi (a SUMMER resort). Anything is possible with the Olympics.

So far this week has been hot but manageable. Today is a ‘get the hell in the air conditioning’ kinda day.

☺️ three days in the 90s. Love the relative nature of temps…three delightful days in the 80s and one in the 70s with some yummy rain! Enjoy summer…best season!

The summer is going to be hot? Wow, never would have guessed that.

What's next! Possible snow in the winter? :)

Today I drove from Washington Township in Gloucester County to Atlantic City. About 45 miles. I watched the outside temperature on the car thermometer drop from 96 to 78.

Wrong thread?

Sometimes the roads make temps rise. Back in the 90s when I was going to Jersey a lot the temps would go up 10 degrees every time I hit 287. Concrete and asphalt absorb and store heat.

Speaking of heat, I'm watching my 10th Era Tour gig (UK this week) and realized Taylor swift never sweats. Maybe they have blowers or something? Do some people not sweat? I would be soaked after 2 minutes.

Here's a decent vid (Cardiff) if interested (sound get better after a few minutes but the visuals are great)
