OT: Bitcoin, Altcoins, NFT's & All Things Crypto

I have a MetaMask wallet that is where my DIMO gets deposit every Monday. I opened it when Ethereum had a hard fork and air dropped ETHW for anyone who held Ethereum in a wallet. I missed out on the SOL wallet for their free airdrop. All my other coins are in Coinbase, not their wallet

This reminds me, pretty sure Coinbase restricts staking $sol in NJ. Inside the Phantom wallet there’s several options for staking. I have my $sol staked there at an 8% apy.

The problem with staking from a wallet is you don’t know where that coin is being lent. It’s riskier than staking coins on Coinbase (though the interest rate is less) than on some unknown Defi. I’d rather not stake SOL and keep it in the exchange than stake it from a wallet

You stake through a validator but the $sol remains in your wallet. You retain complete control over it.

My old COIN account is once again operational. Seemed like I had to create/start the account from scratch. It was blank for over a year, so perhaps it was deactivated or something? The platform looks better than I remembered.

Any thoughts on the upcoming ETH Dencun upgrade? Sounds crazy bullish for the ETH layer 2's.....Poly, Optimism, etc.
Not specifically. There are some pretty interesting layer 2’s, Polygon is one of them. I use their network when I can to send/receive coins from my MetaMask wallet and the gas fees are pennies vs dollars on Ethereum. ImmutableX is also a layer 2 with some potential big upside.

I'm not familiar with ImmutableX, need to research that one.

I finally buy into SOL and the freaking network crashes again. LOL!
I was just going to say that it’s all your fault. A 3% decrease that’s already been erased is a great sign. Last Tuesday was one of the biggest traffic days in the history of the network due to the Jupiter airdrop and the network didn’t blink. Then it goes down randomly today. Each previous outage has led to further stability, fingers crossed the trend continues.

This dip reminded me that I need to set-up buy orders at low prices to take advantage of those late-night crypto crashes.

EDITED! :)

I'm not sure I agree with stop limits on crypto. The wild swings can see saw you out of your position without any real losses.
I was talking about buy orders, say for SOL at $85 (which could happen via a flash crash at 2am). Sorry for the confusion.

You may be able to chase upside, but the vas majority of these projects are going to get their clock cleaned by bitcoin Layer 2. Solana was legit a SBF coin he single handedly inflated the market of. Chainink, Cardano, poopcoin, turdtoken, I could go on. You guys have at it. That's not my brand of tequila. I don't like blindly gambling.
My "trading" philosophy has been turned on its head the last 6 mos or so. Crypto wise, I'm happy as a clam with my weekly btc direct deposit. F everything else. It's noise and ripe for rugpulls. Stock-wise, I'm long Amazon and study options flow to buy calls and sell puts on companies I see fit.

Your strategy makes sense, to each his own. The 2021 Solana pump was absolutely, positively SBF. What is being built on the chain now is what I’m gambling on, not at all blindly.

I’m getting a $rug airdrop on Bitcoin this week. Your layer 2 is opening up to the world of shitcoins itself 😂

Can you explain your $rug airdop (which wallet, how much being dropped, value)? Thanks in advance
A group I’m in was given early access to the Saturn trading platform. They are hoping to become the go to Dex on Bitcoin and take advantage of all of the new ways that use it as Bob points out.

For registering with them and using the platform, I’ll get an airdrop of their coin. I have no idea what it will be worth, I doubt it will be much. Ideally I’d be able to convert it to $btc and just hold it but I’ll see what it does.

Respect this POV, very reasonable. I now have BTC as my largest crypto holding. Obviously, I have a ton of ETH and I'm interested in their layer 2's. As per past conversations with you, I'm also researching the BTC layer 2's and will likely jump in soon.

Just here to drop this little nugget

Any thoughts on Polkadot? The big 2.0 upgrade is coming soon, which will deal with the inflation problem and likely cause DOT to go deflationary. Whenever I see/hear G Wood speak, the project sounds impressive. However, it just has never taken off.

I owned it a couple years ago, not currently. My crypto mentor who I follow doesn't have it in his model portfolio.

No thoughts on that specifically, but in general it seems pretty realistic that altcoins are going to pump as $btc does. There is a lot of room to run, pack your bags accordingly.

Can't own everything! I just got access to FS Insight's crypto core strategy list. Will check it out tonight and pass along anything interesting.

Any other good SOL focused altcoin plays? Obviously, BTC and ETH have plenty of L2s to research.
Right now my biggest position is $shdw. Last cycles winner was defi. I’m betting that this cycle is depin- decentralized physical infra networks. Things like $honey, $dimo, $hnt, etc that we’ve discussed here before are other examples. $shdw/GenesysGo is building a storage network that has almost unlimited potential.

Other things I’m holding are $bonk (Sol’s version of doge/shib) and $jup because I just got it airdropped and am not sure what I want to do with it yet.

I was early on all of these. Have taken initial out already and will hold to see how far they can go. All three still have legs but I’ll be looking to sell and rotate back to sol/btc.

So depin for the bull and BTC/SOL to long-hodl. Makes sense. SHDW looks interesting, love the low market cap!

That is the plan
Depin is definitely the hot sector. I own $hnt also with an entry point in the mid 6's. I like the free weekly $DIMO airdrops for using my AutoPi. I haven't bought any significant amount since the total supply of $DIMO is 100billion tokens with only 20billion in circulation. Every time it makes a 10-20% pop, it seems the founders sell. My latest airdrop was at .44, just sold it at .49 and transferred it to my Coinbase account. I've received over 2700 free tokens since August, far outweighing my cost of $269 for the AutoPi.

$DIMO was a great call, thanks for that. I didn’t have to pay for the AutoPi, it integrated directly to Tesla for free. I’m claiming every week and bridging the $matic over to $sol. Using the bridge is earning airdrop credit so it’s a win/win for free.

What is the gas fee for your bridging? I tried to bridge $DIMO directly from my Polygon network to the Ethereum network in my MetaMask but the gas fees would eat up almost half of my airdrop. Now I just swap the $DIMO for USDC in the Polygon network and send it to my Coinbase account for literally a penny or 2.
