Cora and Beltran have been formally ID'ed as the on-field ringleaders of the cheating scam.No penalty for Beltran
#justiceManager and General Manager suspended for a year.
When was the last time a GM or manager has been suspended for so long for an on-field reason? Not sure.Bans should have been longer. That's the real deterrent. $5mm is the max allowed under MLB rules, and losing 1st and 2nd rounders for two years will hurt them.
Same reason for Verlander's resurgence. They should look further into Jose Altuve. How can a man so small hit with so much power?

Only manager I ever remember being suspended for a long period was Dourocher of the Dodgers and that was off field stuffWhen was the last time a GM or manager has been suspended for so long for an on-field reason? Not sure.

More harsh punishment coming soon!
Sounds like Cora may get 2 years. Beltran was in cahoots with Cora. He's a crook as well.Cora will get plenty too, as he's been a part of both the Astros and Red Sox scandals. It'll be interesting to see if Beltran gets hit as well.
The NY press is going to be brutal. Look for Wilpon to cut his losses and fire Beltran.Lotta egg on all those Mets posters here who said what a great role model Beltran was. Guy is scum.
terrible day for the Mets.
Damn straight. They should punish every player on that team that knew they were cheating, which was probably all of them.
Good! Serves them right. I remember a very glib Hinch when first confronted tried to dispose of the notion of it being nonsense. Well, nonsense this pal! Same kind of punishment should go to the Bosox as well.
Sounds like Manfred is speaking to the players union about possible punishment. He wanted to hit the franchise first.I also don't understand how the players are being spared when they were behind the scheme in the first place.
+1Barf. I'm a Mets fan and I don't want anything to do with Beltran now. Get rid of him please.
He's a great hitter, but it helps even more when you know the pitch that's coming. I will not speculate on whether his power comes from something else. They should look further into Jose Altuve. How can a man so small hit with so much power?
