OT: CU Boulder has offered Deion Sanders a starting salary of more than $5 million per year to become the next head coach

I've said a million times before CU will do things RU won't consider if it advances the program. Some of you question CU and place it in the same boat as RU, but it's different. I love Rutgers ( my father figure) will teach you honor and be a stand-up person, but Colorado ( my mother figure) will rob, steal, or kill to provide for its kids.
That's wonderful poetic license -- but I'm sure you'd agree that Colorado isn't robbing, stealing or killing. It's raising money, which is what any good athletic program tries to do. Colorado just has more alums and fans than Rutgers does who believe that supporting the athletic program is important. That's probably in part because Colorado has had success at times. (It claimed the national championship in 1990 after going 11-1-1,) It's a catch-22; you need donors to have success, but you need success to have donors.

But for the last 20 years it's not any better than Rutgers.

We could have had ML a couple of years ago. One thing we wouldn’t be talking about scoring. Think we always worry about NJ background. Don’t think Saban is from GS, Kelly from Louisiana or Day from Ohio.. yYou better have an offensive coach in the Big Ten or you are doomed. May be a reason why we haven’t hired an OC yet, coming here as an OZc could be a career killer

What 5 star QB????

You have no idea what goes on at CU. It ain't Texas A&M, but it's far from Rutgers when you get to the nuts and bolts of things.

I did not realize you were a Mike Leach guy. But, but, but, he says things that rile people up!

Better to tile people up and score points then be nice and get your ass kicked.

True -- but at Colorado there are alums (now in their fifties and at the height of theirr earning power) who remember the good old days and want them brought back And the fact there were good old days make other alus think, gee, we can be good again. Rutgers doesn't have that. We were successful in football only when we played a small college schedule, and our basketball success in the mid-1970s faded too quickly to leave a permanent impression. To add to that, professional sports don't have the stranglehold on media attention that they have here in New Jersey.

At least he is telling them upfront and being honest.

Everyone bashed HC Flood's recruiting but then got outraged when HC Ash said the team needed to upgrade talent.

HC Schiano said this wasn't a full rebuild and now he's joking that he "didn't inherit the 86' Giants".

I know… I know… never was the case.

But Why do I have a feeling that Under Armour and/or Barstool would’ve paid off Schiano’s contract if Deion / Rutgers were even serious with each other??? I mean the more WTF quotes and actions from Schiano, the more it seems RU got duped.

Also, never understood the "have to keep assistants" thing.

Why wouldn't you let the HC pick his own staff?
Make the assistants prove their value if they want to stay just like every other assistant candidate.

Sanders is an alpha dog. They will fall into line, unlike A&M.
We'll see. It's easy winning in the swac with superior talent, not nearly as easy vs P5 teams. Does Deion even care about academics? Are the players going to be disciplined?

Rutgers is a straight-lace program. Colorado will cross that line if it means winning.

I’d like to see what Prime could do in New Brunswick. At least it’d sell more tickets, get us more national exposure and maybe even NIL cash.

Just as an FYI. A little bit of a mixed bag in Lewis' career as OC/HC but he's had his moments and I do think Briles/Leach type offense is the way to go. With the talent Deion might assemble, it might be a productive offense.

Kent State

Total Offense Rankings: 44, 5, 1, 66, 83, (before Lewis) 128
Scoring Offense Rankings: 66, 30, 1, 63, 104, (before Lewis) 129

Another school that Saban now has to divide the pie with. Alabama's dominance is looking officially over

The rumors are he's already trying to poach kids from teams, even some that aren't in or considering the portal through intermediaries. If there is a guy to push the limits of the rules (and maybe even break them), it's gonna be Deion.
Deion doesn’t need to break the rules, people wants to play for him. Already hAd a 5 star 2025 player commit. Players will reach out to him because they know that wherever he is at the cameras will be there. If you can get college game day to Jackson MS, they will come to Boulder

“We plan to dominate, baby,” Sanders said in a video posted to his Twitter account Monday. “Not tomorrow, not the next day, but right now. And I need your help in doing that. Recruits, I ain’t hard to find.”

So no 10 year build?

That is what people don’t understand. Can you find a video of GS talking to the team on twitter. That short video with words like “dominate”, “I am coming”. Will do more recruiting then a team of 5 coaches. Recruits don’t have to wait for a coach to talk to them to get the message, they go to twitter and Prime Time is giving them the message. Been reported that players are calling Colorado, they want to play for PT. It won’t take him long to assemble a staff and transfer player, they will follow the bright lights. If you can get college game day to come to JSU and have a former NFL HC on you staff at JSU. What do you think he will do in Boulder.

That would be something. On paper, Lewis and Zimmer (if it happens) would be pretty solid hires.
