So I watch drunk history on Comedy Central. Decent show, but I'm watching one of the more recent ones on Alexander Hamilton. They start to profile Aaron Burr and Lin-Manuel Miranda (the drunk story teller for this story) says Burr went to Princeton which at the time was called Queens College... ugh Wrong! TCNJ.

I saw that episode last week and it was hilarious (they all are). April from Parks & Rec. was so funny in that role. I picked up on the Queens College reference, but didn't think through the timing.

I saw it when it first played and noted the error. I emailed Comedy Central with the correction, but never heard back from them.

I also watched it and was yelling at the screen. Very funny show.

He probably got confused because in the show they mention his Alma Mater , Kings College ( Columbia) multiple times. Kings, Queens, one of those when you are drunk. BTW if you get a chance, go see it. I am 60 and a founding fathers fan and I thought it was brilliant.

Didn't Hamilton lead the artillary at Queen's College during the Continental Army retreat through NJ. Also heard a story where he spent many a night having fun with president of the school's daughter in Old Queens.

Do they profile my idol, Ben Franklin? He invented hookers and blow. Smart man.

I think there's a sign (or at least there was when I went to school) near Kirkpatrick Chapel commemorating this fact (leading the artillery, not having fun with the president's daughter).

Probably not in Old Queens which wasn't built until after the Revolution (1809). Which is not to say he couldn't have partied elsewhere (in the movie 1776 New Brunswick is cited for its abundance of whores).

"The situation is most desperate at the New Jersey training ground in New Brunswick ... reports of drunkenness, foul language, naked bathing in the Raritan River ... and the "French disease."

Moments later: "Wake up, Franklin. You're going to New Brunswick."
"The hell I am. What for?"
"The whoring and the drinking."

Howard DaSilva as Ben Franklin almost breaks a hip jumping up to head out.

Not historically accurate, but some very good humor in there. Saw it on Broadway when they did a revival. Ken Howard and William Daniels stick in my mind, along with the governor from "Benson" playing the lead delegate from New Jersey (and later president of the College of New Jersey, John Witherspoon).

Nice to see that some traditions are kept alive

Burr was a College of New Jersey, now Princeton, guy. His father was the president of the college.

They both went to prep school in Elizabeth, Old Presbyterian Academy

Whoring? Drinking? New Brunswick?

Was this 1776 or 1976? It's hard to tell.
