OT: Electric vehicles

Got in the car this morning. 9 degrees and sat out all night. The truck showed only 63% power available. Not sure what that means. Range was also down significantly. But no issues on the bagel run and kids drop off.

On the train back from MSG this afternoon the conductor noted, repeatedly, that "many doors on the train are not working because of the cold temperatures."

Worth noting that the trains are electric. 😂

Were you stuck on the train? Did the train get you there and back?

They also have the Ariya. I'm sure there will be more between now and 2028.

don't forget Ford and GM had to pay out for their gas tanks exploding.
>The majority of fuel-tank related explosions or fires occur because the tank ruptures upon impact ,which then causes fuel to leak and pool underneath the vehicle. Fires and explosions that result from fuel leakage <
Life isn't perfect, but as flaws are found, fixes are made in effort to solve problem.
It's hard to find a fix overused, uncertified and improperly stored batteries on the street
if the user doesn't make sure their batteries are properly taken care of
>When the lithium-ion batteries used in the bikes are poorly made, overused, or charged too long, though, they can cause fires. “It’s very violent, very fast, it’s hard to extinguish,” says Daniel E. Flynn, chief fire marshal at the Bureau of Fire Investigation in New York City’s fire department.<

As i have said previously and now its live electric vehicle batteries are being repurposed as backup grid power. As this technology develops it will give a huge boost to renewables.

But some on this board would have us believe that drivers will use FSD responsibly.

Do you mean because they are heavily subsidizing petrol and diesel fuels due to the war? Thought the anti-EV crowd did not like subsidies for energy companies?
Charging at home is still the cheapest of all. I'm laughing all the way to the bank, saving at least $3,000/year on fuel and virtually no maintenance costs. Winning!!!
Subsidies lol

You hear that from Richard Maddow?

Not against mining at all, just when they use children in unsafe conditions making pennies to get the work done. Would you let your children work in those conditions?
I assume you're posting this on a smartphone or a laptop?

Interesting that the outcry over mining conditions coincides with EVs growing popularity.

Do EV batteries contain minerals that have never been mined before?

And you’re sure all the metals you use are mined only under the best working conditions?
