VW's ID.2all is a sub-$30,000 EV for the masses - Autoblog
Volkswagen achieved something on Wednesday that Tesla couldn’t at its investor day earlier this month — show off a sub-$30,000 electric vehicle.www.autoblog.com

While batteries are the favored propulsion for cleaner cars, hydrogen and synthetic fuels can fill in the gaps and help future-proof the industry.www.autoblog.com
I disagree. Some of us are posting items from "news" sources and other places. Others are stating their opinions on the product. There may be a troll or two, however. The anti-EV/anti-Tesla Trolls are working this thread.
I disagree here too. He has made some good contributions to this thread.Wrong. You just throw shit up on the wall and hope that something sticks.
Gigafactory New York s a great story of repurposing an old facility (steel mill) with modern technology.
Will have a difficult time trusting that company after diesel gate. I made out fabulously on the payouts from that debacle, however. Basically was able to drive an Audi Q5 TDI for free for several years when all the math was done. From the article: go into production for the European market in 2025
Good luck to VW.

If you're talking about synth fuels, that's incorrect. That would be several orders of magnitude more than needed to keep motor racing going.Pie in the sky until someone comes up with a plan to produce a millions of barrels/day.
But, but, but, but.....Ford Lighting! Even though F can't make them and they are unprofitable. :)First sighting of Tesla version 4 superchargers. Charging speeds up to 600 kW! No current EVs can accept that rate of charge, so Tesla has something up their sleeve with that. Longer charging cable to accommodate all EVs. Also, the position of the charging post is now in the center of the parking space.

I can't offer more to this thread other than I have a friend who got hired away from Qualcomm in San Diego to work at Gigafactory in Buffalo. Not sure I could or would make that move but money talks I guess!I disagree. Some of us are posting items from "news" sources and other places. Others are stating their opinions on the product. Ask him what's going on with solar roof shingles. Why is the rollout so slow? Any other inside info would be great 👍I can't offer more to this thread other than I have a friend who got hired away from Qualcomm in San Diego to work at Gigafactory in Buffalo. Buffalo is a very underrated city. It is beautiful-when it is not snowing 2-4 feet at a clip. Seriously, we traveled there to see a Springsteen concert years ago, and it was a wonderful city. I "think" this is not debatable- San Diego's weather is better. But the cost of living in Buffalo is much lower before you factor in the cost of snowblowers, boots, winter gear, snow tires and vehicles capable of navigating 4 feet of snow. Tradeoffs.I can't offer more to this thread other than I have a friend who got hired away from Qualcomm in San Diego to work at Gigafactory in Buffalo. Isn’t this for their semi trucks?First sighting of Tesla version 4 superchargers. Charging speeds up to 600 kW! No. Different charger, but they do look similar.Isn’t this for their semi trucks?
Faster charging is good for the EV market.No. Different charger, but they do look similar.
The "Megacharger" for semi can charge at up to 1,000 kW. Taller post. Thicker cable.
The issue is more on the battery pack end.Faster charging is good for the EV market.
Have seen a surprising number of R1T pickups but haven't seen an R1S in the wild yet.Seeing a few R1S in town. Not a surprise. These will outsell all the model s and Lucid in this area if they can produce them fast enough. People love SUVs.
It looks the same as R1T from the front. Very boxy like a Jeep Cherokee. I think most of them on the street here are 6 figures. Definitely a luxury toy.Have seen a surprising number of R1T pickups but haven't seen an R1S in the wild yet.
Love the design of it.
Looks like any concept interior. If a stripped down VW concept car previewing a 25K euro hatch looks that much like a Tesla ...that's a Tesla problem.
Isn’t that a luxury package in a Tesla? I mean it’s got a steering wheel, two displays and mood lighting. I do own an ID4 and I bought it because of the price for my daughter. The MSRP is way too high for the finish. The federal tax credit makes it more palatable. It’s not a luxury vehicle.
Nothing wrong with copying something successful IMO. Appearance is skin deep though. What VW cannot copy is how the vehicle is manufactured or Tesla's vertical integration.

I would suggest you look into how Tesla builds vehicles and their plan for the next generation platform, but you won't. You already know everything. If you're suggesting that Tesla's build quality is better than Volkswagen's then I'm straight-up callin' the van people cuz you've gone 'round the bend.

Assume whatever you want. Learning about Tesla is beneath you. No need for further discussion. This discussion is narrowly focused.
You implied that Tesla's build quality is better than Volkswagen's.
That makes you a loon.
How much time have you taken to learn about VW? It’s obvious you’re not a car person. You haven’t spent your life reading about all things automotive. Or going to car shows. You haven‘t been a frequent participant in car forums across multiple brands.Assume whatever you want. Learning about Tesla is beneath you. No need for further discussion.
Wow - sounds like someone with an agenda. So lets summarize:How much time have you taken to learn about VW? It’s obvious you’re not a car person. You haven’t spent your life reading about all things automotive. Or going to car shows. You haven‘t been a frequent participant in car forums across multiple brands.
You’re not a mechanical engineer, a software engineer, or any other kind of engineer. You have no professional experience in the tech world at all. You never worked on your own car.
What makes you think you are qualified to judge anybody else’s “education” about cars given all you know about them is from Tesla promotional material or shills for Tesla like Sandy Monro?
I know we won’t get a serious answer. You’ll either ignore the inconvenient truth or lob some weak insults.
But that’s fine. It works well as a rhetorical question.
Methinks alot of the Tesla hate spew comes from people who don't like Elon Musk's persona and what he is doing with Twitter. Not all of it. IMO, Tesla has some quality issues and bugaboos, like all car companies. But a lot of it is an inability to separate the vehicle from the CEO, IMO.Wow - sounds like someone with an agenda. So lets summarize:
Ford CEO - "We have a ways to go before we can compete with Tesla...."
VW CEO - "Tesla is producing cars in 1/3 the time it takes us ... we need to do much much better"
Toyota Exec after finally taking apart a Tesla Model Y: "It is a work of art"
Sounds like many real experts agree with Mr. Belly.....
