While I'm all for ensuring that the horses that draw horse-drawn carriages are treated well and never abused, the idea of switching to electric powered carriages as a replacement for horses is ridiculous. Funny, too.

Electric-powered carriages... because nothing says romantic like riding around city streets to the dulcet tones of a vacuum cleaner.

Could add to the ambiance by loudly playing some Bob Dylan songs (in which his voice and phrasing often winds up sounding exactly like a vacuum cleaner going back and forth on a thick shag carpet).

Got a better look at the EQS 580 SUV. Nothing cheap about the interior. It looks like a 6 figure car.

A 2 year old CPO with 10k miles is 30k cheaper than an equivalent Macan S.

Yeah, Porsche pricing is out of control, IMO. Problem is, people keep paying it.

My problem with both the Macan and the GLAs is that the back seat seems mostly unusable by adults. I have a friend who just got a build allocation for a 718 GTS and was also looking into Macans.

He balked at the Macan pricing (the base prices are pure BS as some options are basically required). So he checked out the BMW X3 M. Took it for a test drive and said the handling isn’t Macan-level but was good enough and he could sit in all 4 seats. He’s at least 6‘2”, maybe a bit taller.

Still pretty expensive though.

I’ve been looking a bit bigger, more mid-sized SUVs, like the 2024 Cayennes which look really nice. Gonna head to the dealer and have a talk. But I also keep drooling over Tellurides which look awesome, are apparently very nice inside, and seem like a lot of car for the money. I stop owners in parking lots and ask them how they like them and the responses are always unreservedly positive.

I am anxiously awaiting the posting of charts showing the Cybertruck wiper's removal of thousands of gallons of water per second more than all those legacy brand wipers (1).



(1) All legacy brand wipers from 80 year old models.

The rest are meh to straight up pupil poison.
 
Don't think any of them have a confirmed (EPA) range, period. Some haven't even debuted in production form yet.

EPA testing happens right before market launch.

Think the Tesla and Silverado are only ones with 400 mile EPA estimates. ID.7 has a 435 mile estimate, but WLTP.

I'm on a hill and you can hear delivery trucks roaring up and down regularly, pretty much every day.

Back before online shopping really exploded with prime and then pandemic, the truck was very often for me. So I think I developed a positive association where I just relate the sound to something awesome waiting for me outside the door, even though it's not for me most of the time anymore.

The dog barking like a nut at the nearby deliveries, however ...

We are surrounded by barking dogs and deaf owners. Dogs barking constantly and sometimes all hours of night and morning. It calmed after I made it clear to the major offender it was going to get ugly when I go to the town and take other action. Never in all my years have we had such inconsiderate dog owning neighbors.

I feel ya.

My neighbor has two collies, not fixed, that mated (inadvertently) and had five or six more. He sold a few but still has four or five dogs, all adults now. And they have a dog door so are in and out barking at all hours of day and night.

I can sleep through a bomb but wakes rest of the house and neighborhood up constantly.

Guy had a heart attack close to a year ago so feel bad even bringing it up or going to town, but explosive barkfest is getting tiresome.

I don't understand dog doors. Around here they'd also be dog, cat, squirrel, possum, raccoon, mouse & rat doors. Fortunately the deer wouldn't fit.

But wouldn’t it great if it did work for deer? Then dinner could walk itself right on in to the kitchen.
