OT: Electric vehicles

FYI
I imagine the new one's will be heavy EV.

Maybe it says it in the story?

They are in my area all the time. Probably half the AZMN delivery trucks here are Rivians (rest being Dodge Rams?).
It's interesting how the truck EV market was left wide open, commercial and personnel, and RIVN has jumped right in.

I imagine the legacies will get there, but like with TSLA in the car market, they are letting a start up get a big head start. (though Ford does own a decent share of RIVN)

And the AMZN tie in is huge.

Proterra was trying to find success in the commercial market, but they just went bankrupt. Hard space to get into, so RIVN's position is very valuable. I'm a super long hold on RIVN.

Wrong thread but their revenue growth is expected to be huge for the next 3 years. Like 8x current revenue.

I traded out of it which at the moment looks good but i do need to get back in.

Favorable review for the model Y:

The summary:

“Many of us went into this evaluation wary of the cultlike vibes from the Teslarati, who gloss over glaring faults, explain away the inherent danger Full Self Driving poses to the general public, and shush owners who dare complain about their Tesla cars, and we certainly don't want to appear like we are joining their ranks.

But our job is to evaluate cars, not the people who make, own, or love them, and there is no denying the Tesla Model Y is very, very good—and that, as our testing shows, it has been this good for the three years it's taken the competition to catch up. While some competitors are as good as the Tesla, none is clearly better, and the Model Y is still running at the front of the pack.”

That link is pushing lease deals, and the first comment under the linked post says:
"Imagine paying that amount per month to lease something?!?! I mean I bet most are low mile leases also…. Basically paying .50-.75 cent for every mile you drive. I just don’t get it and never will…."

I agree. What is the attraction of leasing, especially for the amounts in the link? Am I missing something. As someone who has never leased, but has done the math several times versus owning, leasing never seemed to make sense to me.

I agree on never leasing a vehicle.

To add to my post above. You could TRY to call Rutgers Parking for an answer, but I would confirm the answer with RU athletics. This being Rutgers, would bet you get two different answers and neither one would be correct.

Trigger alert warning given for the horse and buggy set.

Is a fanboi cirle jerk article from the ultimate fanboi site supposed to be a credible piece of automotive journalism?

Should I expect rennlist to say anything terrible about an unreleased porsche?

Not even sure WTF that was about. Was it supposed to be arousing in some way? It seemed like idiocy.

See above.

Not a Tesla hater. Just not sure what that was supposed to evoke.

Actually, it's not at all unusual to find people saying negative things on Rennlist about upcoming Porsche's. For example, the latest generation Cayenne forum has plenty of negativity at the moment for the '24 model year refresh.

A pretty high percentage of Rennlist participants own multiple cars, across lots of different brands. There's a Rennlist thread discussing BMW X5 versus Cayenne and it's pretty even, last time I checked, which car gets more love.

TBH, I've found that, in most car forums across most brands, you usually find mostly balanced or even negative people than fanboi stuff. Fanboi attitudes seem to be pretty universally reviled all across the internet, in my experience.

And I appreciate that. 😀

Long as the door's still ajar, let me point out that the funny thing is, not many people seem to have a problem with Tesla's cars or the company. There's just this kind of universal dislike of the Teslerati. And the Teslerati, for reasons that defy understanding, seem wholly unable to figure out that it's not the cars or company people dislike; it's them.

And even when they do figure that out, they don't understand why even though people all over the internet keep explaining it. I mean, it's not like it's rocket science.

Even the apple fanbois eventually figured it out. So I guess there's hope.

Cue our resident fanboi accusations of me of hating: Tesla, Musk, and EVs while loving eight-track tapes and abacuses and Satan. 😂

Resale value has to be getting crushed. I think it’s a great product at the current price with the tax incentives.
Long range Model 3 has been available since May. Leave it to Yahoo to post a 3 month old story. 🙄

And yes, both the standard range and long range are great values, especially with fed + state incentives.

Also, rumors swirling for months that a refreshed Model 3 (Project Highland) is coming. No official announcement from Tesla, although Elon did say some production lines will be shut down during Q3 for upgrades. Nothing is certain, but there's been a few articles like this:
