OT: Electric vehicles

Wasn't really trolling. I don't want to derail this thread, and I was scolded once already on that.
Back to the F150 Lightning, will be interesting to see if I get it this summer or early fall. I'm apparently in "Wave 6," also called the "cleanup wave" of orders for 2022. In before the 2023 price increase too. I hemmed and hawed for 2-3 days before we did the math, and it made sense for us in fuel savings, and we know have tree hugger cred! If I get the Lightning before the end of tailgate season, will try to connect--I think you and RU#s tailgate in the Yellow Lot.
Was teasing about the trolling. It was more funny than anything else, IMO.

I actually dropped my season tix for this year. For several reasons somewhat beyond my control, it’s unlikely for me to make any games this fall. May resolve itself by fall 2023; no way of knowing.

But yes, numbers and our crew do tailgate in yellow and you‘d be most welcome by the crew. If you do join that tailgate for one or more games, I’ll try to at least make it out for a tailgate.

As I said. Surely you two boys have better arguments.
I'm not making any kind of argument. I'm teasing you for being a fan boy for an automotive company. For being an unpaid marketing puppet.

That's not an argument, it's an observation. And it's pretty light teasing even. Mostly because it's not nearly as bad as being an unpaid marketing puppet for some politician - now that's totally undignified.

Who are the haters? I have zero hatred for Tesla or Musk. Or for any other automotive company or CEO.

Why would anybody hate (or love) either thing? The concept of heaping emotion on such things escapes me.

You and some others have some wildly emotional responses to anything posted about Tesla.

why bother tho? you ain't tryin to hear anything that doesn't sing the praises of your hero. in fact, it just makes you post more of that spam. you're the equivalent of a teenage girl in love with BTS when it comes to elon.

Posting about Tesla's revenue/sales performance is anything but spam.

BTW, I haven't posted anything specific about Elon in many months.

I don't have wildly emotional responses to anything posted about any car brands ever. Perhaps you're projecting a wee bit here? Because, between the two of us, only you are showing any kind of emotional responses (e.g. "Boom!") to the posts (we'll overlook the fact that it was your own post you were celebrating, you know, in the interests of not piling on). 😉

You maybe don't want to give up your day job to become a psychologist anytime soon. I mean, unless not doing so will cause you undue anxiety or whatever. In which case, have at it. Surely your Tesla holdings can support you even if your newfound profession doesn't.

Interesting analysis of the F150. Tesla fans will be happy that the Y comes out ahead. This is in line with what @BellyFullOfWhiteDogCrap has said about the girth/weight of the Hummer and Chevy Silverado trucks. The F150 suffers to a lesser degree from the same issue. His calculation is based on Michigan, which is a dirty electric state.

Calculate your State's Numbers here: https://afdc.energy.gov/calc/

Seems like a pretty accurate calculator. Tesla's app estimates I'm saving $2868 per year. The calculator $2694.

I just multiplied ~$71, the amount I spent to fill my tank yesterday, by 52. Because I typically go through about a tank of gas per week or less in that car, just doing pleasure drives. Rounding up, it's about $3700 for gas for the year (for that car).

Thing is, I would happily spend four times that amount, just for gas, to get the enjoyment I get from these drives in that car (or a similar car). Or, to put it another way that is more on-topic, not even a $12000/year savings would convince me to trade in an ICE sports car for an EV sports car. Thus I hope that some of the alternative fuel for ICE technologies being investigated today work out so I can enjoy driving a sports car while also not destroying the planet.

OTOH, I would be quite happy to be saving a bunch of money driving an EV SUV with a 600+ range and if there was one today, I'd be giving serious thought to getting it.

So, I hope the EV automakers can get that range in a reasonably large SUV ASAP.
