OT: Favorite Bingeable/ Weekly Show Right Now…

Just finished season 1 of The Agency on Paramount+/Showtime with Michael Fassbender. It’s a suspense/spy show and not too much action but enjoyed it. Like the way it ended and sets up nicely for season 2 as well.

Also just started watching the reboot of Frasier on Paramount+, find it just about as enjoyable as the original show.

Going through “24” again. Just a good show.

Made me think about this show and many like it where main characters are some sort of elite government agency.
It seems that if you are not the lead, you may be the dumbest agents ever. Every single one of them never see a bad guy coming. lol

Anyone watch Cassandra on Netflix?

German Artificial Intelligence thriller/horror limited series. 6 episodes, under one hour each.

First time watching anime but on a whim took a shot on Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix. 3 episodes in, I’ve found it pretty enjoyable which I wasn’t expecting.

Edit: Watched the 8 episode season in 24 hours. Can’t remember the last time, if ever, I’ve done that but got sucked in.

Quite good with the flashbacks, relating past and present etc…I was thinking Star Wars could’ve used some of the themes from this anime for Darth Vader’s origin story as oppose to the way they mucked it up.

Ok - I know it’s not a bingable show but man just found Amazon Prime has the movie Fear of a Black Hat streaming (no rental). It’s basically the rap version of This is Spinal Tap. Haven’t seen since college. Still makes me laugh.

Just watched the three-part documentary "Black Hawk Down" on Netflix. Very good at capturing the particulars and those involved on both sides of the brief conflict including the local who videotaped the happenings.

Season two of The Night Agent is now available on Netflix.
For those who don't know, Night Agent is based on a book, and the author (Matthew Quirk) is a Jersey guy. I stumbled upon the show recently and binged it on long flights, then looked into it more and realized I grew up going to school with the author in Monmouth County. Small world.

Yeah, did a good job matching actors to the originals, except maybe Deb
True. The actress playing Laguerta is a dead ringer for a younger Lauren Velez. Christian Slater is a good Harry Morgan as well.

Only problem is that I’m afraid the story is in Shark Jump mode (NO SPOILERS). They can’t
F🤬🤬🤬 three endings of this franchise… Can they?

Just finished the first season of Outer Range. Very strange sci-fi that takes place in Wyoming staring Josh Brolin. Couldn't stop watching it.

Watched Season 1 of Lioness, liked it. I think Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman did a nice job in their roles.

Watched 8 episodes of Landman as well. Also a good show. Billy Bob Thornton is suited for his role too. His lines and delivery are great for both hilarity and seriousness.

On a side note, Paramount+ app sucks. On the newer LG it’s not great for navigation, pausing, memory settings but it’s workable. On the older LG it’s horrible plus sound can come and go. Both are up to date with the OS and app.

Looking online it seems it’s an issue for many devices but I noticed the commonality was they were non iOS be it TV, firestick, Roku etc… Tried it on the Apple TV which I haven’t used in awhile and it’s better with that. Maybe their design team is good for only one OS at a time lol.

Season 3 of Reacher just started. the first 3 episodes were easy to watch. I liked the Night Agent. I just started to watch Taken. A little slow to start.

Interested to watch A Thousand Blows on Hulu. First season comes out tomorrow. By the same guy who created Peaky Blinders.

She definitely starts to wear on you.
Is that just season 2? Haven’t seen that yet. I didn’t feel that in season 1. I enjoyed her character in season 1.

The Bear is the only show where incessant yelling was irritating to us.

I liked season 1 of The Bear but couldn’t get through the 2nd episode of season 2. It seemed they decided to just give each actor a full show monologue to win more awards.

Yelling? Apparently you've never worked in a restaurant. Or grew up around Italians.... That show marries both "cultures." LOL...

Full disclosure: worked a good bit as bartender (restaurant/lounge) and am an Italian-American. 🙃

We’ve watched all the seasons and it was the awards it won that made us take a look at it. Think we started after two seasons were out. Not sure if it’s worthy of all its merits but it has its moments but we had to have some endurance (the yelling) for it lol.

We generally don’t binge a ton of episodes of any show at once and switch around at times between shows as well for change of pace. That helped in dealing with it lol.

Season two is where it starts to ramp up. I guess they did it to make her seem tougher or something, but she shrieks at everything. Still a great show but WTF.

And they don't seem to prevent much terrorism, either. If I recall 24 correctly, this elite agency failed to prevent the assassination of a President, the detonation of a low yield nuclear device in a large metropolitan area, an an attack on their secret headquarters.

The Berzatto Christmas was torture.
I can’t remember if we finished that episode or skipped it part way through lol. Might have had it on mute and read subtitles as well, which we did at times for that show lol.

I think season 2 of Lioness is better that season 1. The highway shootout in the first episode of season 2 is a top 5 shootout scene of all time (Heat is #1).

I'm really enjoying Landman. Good mix of humor and real life struggles, topped off with 3 hot women.

Can we talk about Severance?

This has to be the biggest drop-off between a season 1 and a season 2 in TV history. Season 1 was very compelling and interesting but this second season is unwatchable garbage. Did the show writers start taking shrooms when they sat down to write this season???

Sounds like the drop off on Alias back in the day

Started watching Paradise on Hulu last night. Seems interesting so far.

I tried my best even with season 1 but just can’t get through the first couple of episodes
