OT: Favorite Bingeable/ Weekly Show Right Now…

It appears Spooner and group are now..........

I am surprised it took them so long to realize. That was probably the most uncomfortable scene in the show but needed.

As far as last episodes go it was good. I would have changed ending.
Spoiler alert….
Was ok with the whole Beth Jamie nonsense. But Beth should have killed him just as Rip and Loyd come in. Shortly after Cops roll in and Loyd takes the fall for the brand.

Note that it's still unclear if that was the series finale or if it will continue to another Season 6. I liked the series and followed until this last episode but felt that as the seasons went on that Beth's character became too over the top and the body count became almost cartoonish.

I'm waiting on season 2 of Yellowstone 1923 which has been great so far.

I didn’t see the interview but an employee told me that’s it. Will be a spinoff series with Rip and Beth. And they’ve talked about a 6666 spinoff since they introduced it on the show

I read they used the term season finale because the timeline of the story continues but not with the same characters. Another series is suppose to take place after the events of Yellowstone and star Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox. I think it's called The Madison. IMO, they just made it confusing with all that series/season finale stuff.

I'm halfway through season 5 and I've liked the show. We've taken long breaks between seasons at times. I think Kevin Costner did a nice job as the patriarch, he suits the role. I wasn't fan of Beth and think like you the character was just too much. I've always thought it had a Dallas like feel to it. The ranch being like Ewing Oil/Southfork and the family dynamics not exactly the same but somewhat similar.

In the early seasons, we would make jokes about the body count too....like the Train Station must be filled to the top of the cliff by now or oops they missed their quota for this show, they're gonna have to make it up in the next one....and they did lol.

I haven't seen the prequels yet. Eventually will get to it. Curious to see Harrison Ford/Helen Mirren in western/cowboy type roles.

Good stuff. I enjoyed both of the prequels (1883 & 1923) probably even better than the original. I think they may be doing a 1944 as well.

To VK's post above...not sure I would be able to take a Rip/Beth spinoff....but would definitely be into the 6666 show.

I am rewatching 1883 now...just a really good show. I always feel bad for the actress playing the daughter- beautiful girl and good actress but if I were her- I never read for a part with blonde hair- she is like the doppelgänger of Jennifer Lawrence.
1923 is the one that pissed me off though- they left it off with a required need for the next season. and what is it now, 3 or 4 years later? But, it was also just a very good show.

Apple TV has had some god ones too. Finally got to watch Masters of the Air, still ranking them 1)BOB 2) Pacific 3) MOA

For All Mankind was pretty good but went off the rails a bit as they all got older.

I have enjoyed Silo as well

Question for those that watched The Walking Dead. What seasons are worth watching? Never seen any of it, always heard the first few seasons are amazing, but then the series poop's the bed (kind of like Yellowstone). Any advice?

I read the Peaky Blinders movie wrapped up yesterday and will be on NetFlix. Not sure on the timing yet but assume 3Q/4Q this year.

Season 1 was great and recommended. Several after that were still worth it. Can't remember when I stopped watching but I lost interest somewhere along the line.

It was pretty good until one certain main character just left the show.
I watched it one time on full binge but then there was a gap between season and couldn’t get back to watching the last couple of years.
But then, I decided this past summer to watch it all tge way through. As tge first few seasons were incredible. Went through the entire series and enjoyed every season much better, even the later ones. Also binged fear of the walking dead and just “allowed” myself to enjoy it.
All the individual add on shows after tge ensemble shows are crap though.

This is the problem I have had with many a show

I was interested enough to watch a season or two, then a huge gap till the next one
Sometimes I have trouble remembering how it left off,
and do I care about watching anymore

It's great to watch once a series (TV or novels) is completed and you have all the content at your fingertips.

I am the king of watching or reading shit late. LOL! Breaking Bad, The Wire, etc. But I did suffer through Game of Thrones in real time which tanked the last few seasons.
I watched Mad Men and Lost shows
after their run was finished

That was a daunting task

Breaking bad, I watched the entire series up to the last season, timed it right up to the final season started and watched from there on

I sometimes will watch shows long after they’ve started airing or finished airing.

Watched GOT years after it was done and knew some of the things that happened but it didn’t ruin it for me and I still enjoyed it. Watched House of Dragon season 1 but still haven’t started season 2.

Yellowstone, Downton Abbey similar as well.

We can watch episodes over weeks and months in a sort binge fashion (while jumping around between shows so as not to get monotonous) but don’t lose the momentum or storyline of the show.

I scoffed when someone suggested watching Downton Abbey, but once I started, I couldn’t stop!

It is the single show that surprised me more than anything. I have watched it twice as well as the movie. If anyone told me before hand- I would have laughed at them.

I try to keep an open mind and limit preconceived notions about most shows, never know what you might end up enjoying.

It costs nothing to give anything a try. If I don’t like it then stop and if I like it then continue.

Time. It costs time you would be wasting anyway since you are watching a screen. (I do it probably more than anyone here so I am not taking a shot here).

The Madness on Netflix kept me watching. Well-produced and acted. I generally shy away from woke-inspired topics but this is probably the ideal case of how media companies should be handling diversifying their content. Write it specifically to tell a story by a particular group for a particular group that is so well done it entertains all. You can identify and root for the main character even is you don't look like him or share his life experience... because we are all human beings. Don't just take existing content and insert a wokeness quotient. Like most media there are, of course, stretches and some leaps of logic... but this one was done well. Give it a try.

We are all human beings... you don't have to look like the characters to identify and root for or against them when the story is well done and speaks to common human emotions.

Just finished Rogue Heroes on Prime. Very good. A drama about the origins of the British Special Air Service (SAS) in North Africa. First season ends with the capture of unit founding commander Stirling. Paddy Mayne leads the regiment as the second season begins in 2025. If he's new to you, "Google" him. Quite an effective fighter.
Just started Rogue Heros.

Landman is really good. Billy Bob Thorton was made to play the main character. Got quite a few laughs at his straightforward no nonsense banter. The dynamic between him and Ali Larter is funny as hell, plus for an almost 50 yr. old she still looks really good scantily dressed. Which is pretty much every scene she's in.

I just rewatched Severance since season 2 is about to come out and season 1 was a long time again. Definitely glad I did - what a great show.

sometimes these seasons are so far apart and there are so many sources.. cable and streaming that it is very hard to keep up even on something you liked.. like Severance. So.. thanks for the heads up.

Just binged it Monday to just about 20 min ago. Pretty entertaining. New season comes out Jan 1.

@RUinPinehurst Rogue Heros was really good. Loved the sound track of AC/DC in it. For anyone interested it's on Amazon Prime for the next 8 days. It's a limited series(6 episodes) based on the origins of the SAS in North Africa during WW II. It's a mostly true story with some Hollywood embellishments.

Just saw that the series Humans is back on Amazon Prime free. Great low budget Artificial Intelligence show, no CGI just actors. Well done for the budget. One of my favorite series. 3 seasons.

Seeing how they kill off somewhere around 450 people, I doubt it. South Korean's sure know how to get high body counts in their shows.
South Korea has an interesting culture, especially regarding cinema and music. Overall entertaining.

Animation count?

I was curious about Netflix: "Arcane: League of Legends". I was roughly aware that "League of Legends" is some kind of online multiplayer FPS like a Fortnite with a different theme (No, I don't play em.. not for 20 years or more with the Americas Army game.. which I liked a lot).

But why was 2-season series (no more to come) based on an FPS getting good reviews I wondered...

Well... it is pretty good, that's why. Steam-punk, dark, sci-fi.. the animation art is solid.. even if I sensed some money-saving techniques in parts masked with music and lyrics to set a mood.. the best action scene animations are solid as is the visual storytelling. I assume some of it relates to the game.. that players will recognize themes/weapons/characters... I know nothing and still found a story to follow.

I guess it is anime? Don't know much about anime but I think this counts.

South Korea government is a circus right now... hard to keep track but l think the list is..

Failed attempt at martial law
Impeached the President because of the martial law declaration
Impeached the interim president because he called for a vote on the previous impeachment with an argument over whether it takes 2/3rd or simple majority (truth is 2/3rds but no one knows what the rule is to impeach an ACTING president..

May as well be Squid Game.

There's been some great south Korean content on Netflix..

Train to Busan - great zombie flick
Parasite - some home-takeover iirc.. not monster
Okja - disney-like free-willy kinda story with a scifi element
The Host - classic monster movie
