OT: Kenny Pickett decommits from Temple

I don't really remember much of Pickett to be honest. Is this a kid that Rutgers will now target? Does it have any connection to RU going forward?
Don't think Pickett has a offer and no we aren't recruting him. We already have our stud QB from SPP

Right, but it was also reported that the offer was contingent upon Russo visiting Baton Rouge, which he considered, then declined.

Sort of a chicken/egg situation- word around the time was LSU would offer if he went on visit, but he wouldn't go on visit without the offer first. The impression given was if he was offered, he would have taken visit.

...not like any of this means much now anyway. Alll of this info and a buck will get you a cup of coffee.

Field looked OK to me on film. He didn't look like stiff for a guy his size + he's a bit of a bully which you need for the OL

So he turned down a free trip to Baton Rouge or was he told to take an unofficial visit & maybe they'd offer?

Salisbury School in Connecticut. Flood really had a great eye for talent! This kid will be lucky if he steps foot on a FCS field.
Some Rutgers fans were super excited seeing Field in his overalls .He had folk hero status with those fans. His football ability obviously didn't measure up to the Division 1 level.

A better question is why do you care? The guys at Temple, not Rutgers and it's over and done with... Why is everybody so eager to argue anything and everything on the Internet? The kid made a decision, who cares what the reasons were, move on.
Because I'm a Temple football fan? Will that do?

Speaking of Temple and decommits, I had a bunch of Anthony Russo's former teammates in my Uber Saturday night. Not much new but they did say the one and only reason he left RU was because of the offense Ash and co. were going to. It had nothing to do w/ his love for Flood or his dislike of Ash. They were all surprised he chose Temple because he has a lot of talent but there was some debate about if he had any other real options. He visited LSU but never actually got an offer, felt his best chance to play early was at Temple. But they all seemed to think Temple's 5 minutes of fame are over.
Newell138, would you be kind to contact me @ adziemian@aol.com I have a few Uber questions

Why are you being so stubborn about it? It was pretty well documented by legitimate sources, and affirmed by people close to him and Temple.

I'm not being stubborn. I just know what you're saying is not true. Not flaming. Just doing my best to debunk hearsay when I know it to be incorrect. No hard feelings.

They deserve our scraps.. Even cuse did better than Pitt did in recruiting a qb.

You have no idea how well he will perform once he competes.

He has all the physical tools needed to succeed.

"Star" watchers are not always right.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Temple-Pitt, if not a RU commit it really doesn't matter what school he goes to for me .
Wish him luck academically , but athletically only wish Pickett an injury free career .

Yea have fun with that crappy argument on why you're so overjoyed to take a kid only temple would offer. He was a nice Plan E for us.

He'll have a far better shot at seeing the field at Pitt than at Temple, where he would have been behind Russo for 3-4 years.

I wish Lewis Devito Pickett and other east coast QB's success. Its only good for Northeast football

Well I guess all the SEC schools declined to offer Terry Bradshaw (Pittsburgh Steeler's) because they thought he was not good and had to go to Louisiana Tech. Recruiting is an exact science according to you.

And for every one Bradshaw there are about 1000 other Qbs that don't do anything.

Penn State,Ohio State,Michigan,Michigan State, Purdue and Indiana did not think Ben Roethlisberger was good enough to be offered a scholarship so he had to go to Miami (Ohio).

Some recruits peak in HS and others develop in college.

There was a big skinny kid who played football in Frewsberg NY.
No major university wanted to offer that big skinny kid a scholarship except for one school.
That one school felt he had potential and took a chance and he developed in college and had a steller college and NFL career.
That big skinny kid was Shane Conlan who was one of the best LB coming out of Penn State.
I think you remember him.

Recruiting is not an exact science.

You can keep grasping at straws and hoping you hit the recruit lottery all you want, so long as you keep leaving the highly-ranked recruits for the big boys

By the way Pickett is a Rivals 3-Star rated QB so how can anyone say with certainty he will not be good.

Rutgers has many Rivals 3-star recruits.

Are you grasping at straws.

A. I'm not a Rutgers fan, just a lurker
B. You're right that recruiting is not an exact science but you're also in denial of you think rankings don't matter

Glad Kenny committed to Pitt and hope it works out well for Todd at Temple.

Fine young men and time will tell how well they perform at their respective schools.

It not an exact science but it been proven time and time again that kids who are highly recruited have a far higher probability of producing. If the pay outs are the same at a race track are you going to bet on the long shot or the favorite?
