Knightmoves, there are many computer based programs to help with learning. They are good supplementary materials but not primary. I used a bunch out of necessity in the spring, but most kids tuned out.

It's more like online vacation. Teachers are essential services and should be viewed as such.

I'm a teacher, and in favor of going back, but this is such a B.S. argument. A closer analogy would be if electrical wires in New Jersey suddenly had a 35% chance of electrocuting the electrician (and his whole family...even though they will most likely all survive). We definitely would not just just throw our hands up and say "welp, that's the job" and accept it. Everyone would insist that electricians stop working until we found out why that was happening and how to stop it.

but where did you get 35% from??? by the way electricians do get electrocuted everyday--as do other construction employees get hurt seriously on the job and by the way anyone else that's goes out in public--there's more TB on subways than anyone is aware of--your argument is weak--and by the way don't tell me a teacher has never come home from work with a virus that could seriously affect his family--that's always been part of the job and until studies prove kids dramatically transmit covid to teachers you have a obligation to those students to effectively move them ahead in life
