I thnik as hard as Pete played and as much as you have to hate him at times- most real baseball people respect how he played on the field. I don't think Buddy would give him many votes though lol
Yes - can you give a few examples of things that didn't get reported that we'd be shocked by?
Tons of gang related issues. Let's also say that A. Hernandez was not the only person to go as far as he did. He just got caught.
Each team has a handful of players that you would not step outside the football field with.
OJ Simpson was the head of one of the toughest gang in Oakland.

There would be at least 1 or more AH situation per team.
On the other hand- many more players that were exactly opposite. Guys that were really trying to make a difference or just good guys that everyone would hang with that just enjoyed life and hoped everyone else would too
I was a Phils fan so I like Utley but the Rapelesberger and Lewis should be in prison. I barely heard of the other guy.
Really sucks that the media disregard the criminal/violent history of players they put in the spotlight. There are so many good guys that play and the ESPNs of the world ignore them,

There are tons of people all over the world who don’t behave the way I wish they would. Why should I single out LJ? Assuming the narrative is even true, you think he’s the first pro athlete to look out for himself and do virtually nothing meaningful to make the world a better place? The first wealthy person to do unethical stuff to earn money?
Are all those other athletes on your dislike list?
I’m way more concerned with how I behave and how I make my way through life to be making lists of folks, whom I only know through the media, who don’t live their lives to my standard, such as it is.
I’ll make fun of such people, but I am not about to form and hold onto a grudge. If I did, I’d need a lot more computing power to keep track of them all. LJ would be one of billions.

I don’t hate Jeter but for a player who was never the best at his position during his career to be idolized as much as any player ever is lame. On the Brewers he’d not be Yount or Molitor caliber, two ‘lesser’ hall of famers.

All teams have class guys and leaders, most we will never know. That’s not nearly enough to justify the idolatry. Very good player. HOF sure but closer to the bubble than the #1 seed. I have no love for Yount of course, but he was a better player who didn’t benefit from the NY privilege. Same goes for many others. Again, never the best 6 at any time in his career.

Jeter was nothing more than a compiler, yes he had key hits etc like any decent player does. If he had not played for the Yankees and played for a small market team we would have never heard of him. I totally agree with you.

Very good point, he didn't make many errors. Because he didn't get to balls that 95% of other shortstops do. He was not a good defensive shortstop, not even close. As you'll see below, by some metrics he was the worst defensive shortstop over the last 20 years. Great guy, clutch hitter, terrible range, should have moved to let ARod play shortstop are all facts.
Some notes, because I know Gold Gloves will come up next:
