OT:LET'S GO METS

This is a team that truly plays for each other even on a day when only 3 guys in the lineup (not counting deGrom of course) are regulars in Conforto, Lagares and Johnson they still put up big runs. Everyone does their part because they want to win now! Teams like that tend to go pretty far.

Damn you Niese. I was gonna get to see Matz on Thursday in Philly. With you going to the bullpen now the rotation moved up a day and I get Verrett. Oh well all for team success.

Not sure who to root for in Papelbon versus Harper. One is a known arse while the other shows incredible potential.

The new Magic Number is 5. Any combination of five Met wins or Dodger losses gets us home field. That is because we would win the head-to-head tiebreaker, 4-3.

Yeah I did not realize until last night we had a tiebreaker advantage on Dodgers. That certainly helps. Hopefully the Giants show some pride and don't allow them to clinch in sf

Way to go Mets! Take the 2nd best record and host the Dodgers!

Let's go to the way-back machine to the Mets original home -- Shea Stadium.

Watch the crowd rock the lower stands with Grand Funk Railroad doing "I'm Your Captain" from 1971! When concerts sold out the largest venues.

Tonight's starter for the Phils: Alec Asher (0-5), 7.52 ERA. He pitched well last time out, holding the Marlins to 1 ER in 7 IP, but has given up 4+ ER in his other four starts.

The Mets' rotation right now according to CBS: Verrett tonight, Matz tomorrow, Thor on Friday, Harvey on Saturday, deGrom on Sunday. First NLDS game is not until Friday October 9.

Oh my...please let Cespedes be ok...please! and how Verrett does not throw at the pitcher who hit him is mind-boggling.......again

He really does struggle. The velocity seems OK but location is bad. Not worth staying up to watch bad baseball.

would be nothing better as phillies fan than to cost mets homefield - then utley and rollinz to come in and sweep the metz away!!!

Don't like losing games when up 5-0. Given who we are throwing out there on the mound some nights we need to continue to score runs. Gilmartin starts this afternoon. We may need more help from the Giants and Padres.

Hey guys, so I've always been a Mets fan, but in my 25 years have never been to a game.

Low and behold, a few months back I bought tickets for Friday night's game vs. the Nats...

Just my luck that this weather rolls in. So, any idea what I can expect? Will the game maybe be rain delayed, postponed, or cancelled? Will my Girlfriend and I be forced to choose between sitting in the rain or eating our tickets? Greatly appreciated...

Inexcusable to lose 3 to the Phils at this point in the season. If you were truly interested in staying ahead of the Dodgers you don't rest nearly everyone today. This team seems to be creating more questions about the last couple of spaces on the post season roster rather than solidifying them.

With the Cespedes injury, I wasn't shocked at all to see that lineup out there today.

Again, still not sure if home-field is good or bad in this case. Can't see anything better than a split with Kershaw and Greinke - might be better to hope for G3/G4 wins at home.

Look at the Dodgers home and away splits. Not saying the Mets can't win if LA has home field but I like their chance better with 3 at Citi Field.

Collins is not a good manager. Still, the Mets somehow won this year and the players earned it. Can someone please explain why Collins continue to play guys who will not be on the playoff roster, especially some of the bullpen pitchers? Does Collins not want home field advantage against L.A.? If Collins is ever fired, he should look into Rutgers because he fits right in with doing just enough to be average. Is Collins related to Barchi?[winking]

Actually, you want to rest the guys who are definitely on the roster. Not sit them until next Friday mind you but give them an extra couple of days off just to help them get a boost come next week. That being said he makes some questionable if not mind boggling moves at times that are truly unexplainable, but this is not one of those.

If they wind up blowing the home field they'll really have no one to blame but themselves. Getting swept by the Phillies? And blowing a 5 run lead in one of the games? SMH. And now the Dodger go home where they have the second best winning percentage in the league to play a Padres team that has already shut down Matt Kemp and may also be without their other main offensive threat in Justin Upton who missed their last game with a sprained neck and certainly has no incentive to come back to play this weekend.
