OT: Metallica Salutes Frank Beamer

Wonder what the connection is. Lars is from Denmark. The other three are from California.
Metallica got their start in NJ on Megaforce records run by Johnny Z in Old Bridge, NJ.

What? They didn't have a 'connection' with Mariano Rivera but they still paid tribute to him. VT (famously) uses their song before every game so they decided to honor the guy.

Umm, well we play for whom the bell tolls when the opposing team is on third down.
Mariano's nickname was Sandman, so they played Enter Sandman when he came out of the pen, so there is a connection.

We should see if they will do a tribute to Flood. Some songs:

One (and 0)[banana]

Sad But True?
The Unforgiven?
The Frayed Ends of Sanity?
Harvester of Sorrow?

Many stadiums play For Whom The Bell Tolls on third down. That wasn't invented at RU. The best Metallica song for Flood would be Sanitarium (welcome home).

King Nothing is more like it.

This is not nearly as cool as what going to happen this Saturday when EDM act RobotRapeSounds will perform as a tribute and goodbye to Kyle Flood and his shit attempt at traditions at RU.

Was covered pretty well in the "Last Bastions of Rock and Roll" documentary on the NJ music scene in the 80s (featured the Court, the Melody, AP locations, etc.).

Have you not paid attention to college football, at all the past 20 years? Arguably the greatest entrance in college football (and there are plenty of "great" ones...). Com'on Shift get with it (just bustin' chops...)!

Have not paid attention to VT since our series ended with them.

I'm thinking Master Of Puppets but not sure who the master or puppet is with RU.

I actually went to that game on Saturday. The tribute VT put up for him was very heartfelt. Enter Sandman in the beginning of the game was epic, as always

Saw them open for twisted sister at the fountain casino in Aberdeen circa 1983 before anyone heard of them.

I counted at least eight stadiums last Saturday. Anyone remember when we started playing it?

I don't care who started playing it first as there is little question, IIRC, that we've made it famous with the "air guitar" aspect (and, as goofy as it is, it IS OUR little "tradition"...).

Which is easily my most hated thing about the entire program (outside of personnel).

Hey everyone, let's all not make ANY noise while we swing our arms, but look very serious.
LOL. I wanted to smack the snot out of the guy next to me one time when he was waving his three fingers in my face on third down.

I sat back and listened in sec117 last year vs Michigan. Stadium gets noticeably LOUDER as soon everyone stops focusing on doing the stupid arm circle.

No question and it was talked about here, a lot, for a couple of years so I pointed it out to Drew Robinson, prior to the 2014 season and he completely agreed, so they started to make sure to cut the song earlier (as soon as the OL got set...). Much better job last season, and this, of giving the crowd tie to amp-it-up for the snap.

I remember when Metallica played Union Jacks in South River. Still have the ad from The Aquarian.

When I was in high school I used to help TS unload their gear at Zaffys in Piscataway.
