OT: Moon Landing

Actually if you do real research, his questions have been answered and his own answers logic is often nonsensical.

Like his whole radiation belt theory. Takes about 5 minutes to google that he's full of it and doesn't understand what he's talking about.
does he not understand, or does he have an agenda ?

This man won a debate with a know-nothing podcaster though, so that’s pretty compelling. I mean, he was able to shut down the probing questions and counter-arguments of a pillar of the under-educated/misinformed community.

Sorry dude. Case closed.

LOL.

In all seriousness, this is how we become dumber as a country. So many people put faith in what people like Rogan propagates on his show. It's mindnumbing.

Only the dumbest of the dumb believe this wacko stuff. Common sense please! Nuff said:

We certainly love our game show hosts in this country.

Newell is pretty sharp. I don't think he's saying that the landing was faked; just that it's interesting how the case could be made that it was (all the legit counters offered in this thread notwithstanding).

It seems like an open-minded observation to me (somebody who is sure that the landing was not faked).

Huh?

If all his stuff can be refuted by experts and with basic research, I am not sure how one can find value in this dude spewing falsities. I guess I don't understand how some crackpot spewing lies is interesting or that the fact he can create a "case" for why the moon landing was fake is interesting.

That's cool. I am a huge fan of debate and critical thinking, and do find it interesting that somebody can make a logical step-wise case (easily refuted or not) for something that's ridiculous.

Disclaimer: I didn't listen to this particular segment; I just trust Newell's judgment...

Debate is fun, but it is a waste of time to argue against simple facts. No thanks!

First of all, Newell has gone from “he seems pretty smart” to “he might not be that smart” with this thread for me 🤷‍♂️

Regardless, a guy you think is smart heard a guy who is not intelligent interview a conspiracy theorist and he was impressed. And if he’s impressed that’s good enough for you.

That is what’s wrong with America 😊🇺🇸

Wow, I used to be a big fan of yours, too, Scarlet. I even saved a response of yours to a post because I thought it was so pithy. Yikes...

Of the thousands of people involved in the space program at the time, how many later alleged it was faked ?

I'm not sure if you have ever attended (or care about) a formal debate. But in such a contest, it's entirely possible to win one while arguing for something that is completely wrong and ridiculous. It's the skill of debating that I am referring to, and find interesting, but apparently I am not conveying that well.

At least I am finding out who my friends are here, ha ha...

Well…if you’re going to see and appreciate pithiness, you can’t be all bad!

I can appreciate that but nevertheless, the arguments the guy makes does make me wonder. Anyone calling Joe Rogan dumb has never listened to his show, he's actually quite smart.

Putting dumb and smart aside, more than anything else he’s curious about things. That’s what I enjoy about his show. Like anything else there episodes I can take or leave. But you can absolutely learn a lot from listening.

No issue with Joe Rogan and his show. However, to even wonder about a simple fact is next level dumb. Like thinking a grown man named Bob becomes a real girl names Bobbie just because he put on a dress. That level dumb.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 The level of stupidity has reached a new low. And many on here that don’t agree on a lot of things have finally found common ground in agreeing on how stupid this conspiracy theory is.
I suppose. Or, is it possible you missed the point Newell was trying to convey? Or, here's another one, could the entire thread be designed just to solicit your exact post making you the mark? Guy named Al showed how easy that is.

Easy to be an internet brainiac, but more often than not, those that have strong absolute opinions are the wrong ones.

Anytime I ever heard someone say the moon landing was fake I put them in the tin foil hat crowd but after listening to this I’m really wondering. This guy lays out some pretty good arguments as to why and Rogan does a good job of questioning all his points but he has answers to all of them. If actually true the question begs what are they doing with all that money?

Good god. Where's your common sense?

This is a great comment on how message boards work in general...

ETA: When posting anything, on has to remember that to many, the post is a sledgehammer rather than a scalpel. There ain't no nuance on a message board.

Ha ha, Newell made it 100% clear that he believes the moon landing was not faked, but yet he's being slammed as if he said it was...

Listen to the guys arguments. Besides none of them have put a man on the moon. For me it’s the technology argument. Why is it harder to do today with the technology so far advanced from 1969?
what makes you think it is harder today?

we have totally other goals today

I bet you think Tang and astronaut ice cream do not exist as well.

The real version of this episode is on the MAX app for you streamers with access. And HBO cable subscription gets you access iirc.

+1
It is easier today to get to the moon from a technology POV. However, cost and gov'ment regulations makes it much more complex and costly.

Doubt it is more costly. SpaceX baby! Proportionately speaking.. NASA moon efforts cost a FORTUNE way back when.
