OT: Need some interview/salary advice for a friend - Denouement!

I hear that from some, but my friends in pharma and finance, at least, tell me things are still pretty good. Heck, I keep getting approached by headhunters 4 years after retiring, based on my Linked In profile, as well as from a few consultants I worked with over the years. On the other hand, our son in tech says finding a good job is tough (he has a good one, but has been looking some). I certainly don't have enough data to know for sure.
I was in tech solution sales and now- tech staffing sales. It is a very tough market.
It reminds me in the opposite way of tge late 90’s- back then, tech people had the upper hand and all wanted to be consultants. Now, it is back to many back as consultants but not because they want to be.

Ummmm.........
Your fault for necroing a thread. You could have just made a new thread summarizing and linking to teh old thread.

Whenever you bring up a dead thread, someone will see it at the top and start replying as soon as they read something to which they feel inspired to respond.

What type of tech?
From the employer side, finding good, reliable people is a problem. Seems 90% of candidates are asking for max pay with minimal work. Then you hire them, and it's like pulling teeth to get them to cover their cost in salary/benefits. Our oldest is new to the work world and crushing it. A workhorse, just like Mom and Dad. Works extremely hard, getting some great projects and got a huge raise at 1 year anniversary. Yeah, we are proud. But the point is not that all the Shifts are great workers, but that there are good workers out there, but seems they are rare nowadays.
