OT: March Weather Banter; OG Thread Was: Winter Storm Thursday 2/20: Very Likely Somewhere Between A Non-Event and a Minor Event (oof)

Thats like me and shorts. I might commit earlier but May 1 closes the long pants portal. It doesn't reopen till Oct 15.
Mine is usually Halloween. Which is when I turn off the outdoor shower and all the spigots too.

Appointment is made with the sprinkler company on August 1st to pick a date for a fall shut off.

I wait until April 15th for that and my sprinklers.
Yes
A few years ago I decided to turn the outside water on to wash off my car

It was just about this time in April
Two nights later it Got down to about 27 and a pipe froze and broke

I won't complain about the rain coming at this time of the year as it's the beginning of growing season and the deficits we had all last fall/winter. It's definitely still needed. The winter cold mornings is another thing however, hate having winter clothes on in the morning and carrying them later in the day.
Looking forward to next week!

Much needed rain continuing tonight into Saturday morning to reduce drought conditions and there will even be some snow along/N of 80 with 1-3" above 1000' in NWNJ/Poconos/Hudson Valley and even up to 1" at lower elevations on grassy surfaces; several inches likely for the Catskills/interior New England at higher elevations.

Stowe got 12” the other day. Most VT ski areas closing on Sunday but plenty still open.

One of the true and few joys of spring: Powder day up high, maybe part to full tailgate after, crank windows wide open on way home, throw on shorts for a warm, sunny afternoon/evening in the valley.

Was at a wedding in Warren last night and stayed in Piscataway. A little slush on the bottom of the windshield. Mix of rain and sleet I'm guessing. The Raritan, Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers all looked full this morning. We've had a lot of rain lately and most drought areas have improved a lot even before yesterday and last night.

We ended up with a bit of snow, already melting of course, but enough to cover everything. Here's a shot from around 12:15:

If only it were enough to cover up that Little League Pants Gray minivan.

Just havin' fun 😜

Pops lives in naples
RSW is a great airport
SW florida is really blowing up population wise
My neighbor up top here above Boone NC lives in Naples FL most of the year. He came back up this week, miscalculating "things" some. 27° here at 1 pm today. No snow, thankfully....

The funny thing is that I got this Jan. 2023 way after my kids were grown, and it's been a godsend for humping all the equipment to the tailgate. Wish I'd had this years ago. And, let's be honest, I make that minivan look good!

Of course it looks good. Because the van on the outside looks so much better than who's on the inside driving it! 👀

I think this map is likely overdone for lower elevation areas, but plenty of reports of 2-4" above 1500' in NWNJ/NEPA/Hudson Valley and places like High Point got 6" and some of the higher elevations in the Catskills and New England got 6-10". There was even up to 1" along and N of 78 in many locations west of the Parkway. All rain here and most areas got 1-2". Fortunately, the rain stopped by 9 am, which is when we teed off in our disc golf tourney at Allaire - was chilly, but the winds were less than predicted, so not so bad.
