OT: New York Yankees 2020 season

Did anybody see the NJ.com article on the 3 prospects that were traded for Sonny Gray and how they're doing now? They all stink, but Mateo might be the starting SS this year even though he strikes out all the time. Fowler hasn't been the same since his injury. The most interesting update was on the pitcher, James Kaprielian.

Kaprielian, the 16th overall pick by the Yankees out of UCLA in 2015, underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2017, three months before the trade, then had shoulder trouble which delayed his return until last season. And he is feeling more like himself this spring, throwing 92 to 94 mph. The A’s sent Kaprielian to Triple A on Thursday, knowing they might need him at some point this season. Kaprielian would like to prove something to the Yankees. “I want to make this hurt them as much as possible,” Kaprielian said. “I just keep telling myself those years I’ve missed are years I’m going to pile on to the back end of my career.”

Why is he so peeved at the Yanks, they didn't make him get hurt. What a freakin' baby.

Very common as I posted above.
I get it being missed last year but he has been going though non stop tests for weeks- I am sure they have the very best. If it is right in the area that is hurting now, my question still stands, how have they missed it up to now.
I am sure one of the first exams went something like this.
Doc- Aaron- where does it hurt?” Aaron “it hurts right in this rib area”
Reminds me of the Harlem Globe Trotters...

It didn't hurt in his ribs. His complaints were more in his shoulder

I guess it depends on where in the pectoral area the pain was traveling to. Lower? If traveling all the way to the lower pectoral, I would think that area should have been under an MRI.
Whole thing just seems very strange no matter how you look at it

He's just a whiner.

Judge is brittle unfortunately. Great talent, great attitude, bad bone density. Hit on wrist- broken bone. Runs into a wall- broken bone. And very , very slow in recovery.

Tough decision for the Yanks when his contract is up. Great guy, great talent, fans love him ..... but as brittle as a thin piece of glass.
^^^^^^^^ 100%

Used MRI as an example- I am not a medical professional and far from an expert. Just seems very strange that somehow this was missed over the past few weeks but the very best doctors in the world. I am hoping he recovers fast because the guy is good for baseball...
Read the article. An MRI isn't the magical scan as many believe it is.

So you're a bone specialist? Not sure how a fastball directly to the wrist and a cracked rib on a diving play equates to "bad bone density".

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome to the right arm and shoulder of a right handed pitcher is not the same thing as a cracked rib to an outfielder 5 months ago.........got any other false equivalencies in mind?

Nice post.

The different imaging modalities (Ultrasound, MR, CT, plain film - old term, etc) have specialized uses as one is a better diagnostic tool for a specific issue than others. MRI is excellent for diagnosing soft tissue problems.

The Yankees minor league system was recently ranked #5 best in MLB.
Lmfao,When was that and how recent? Where exactly did you pull that out from? CNN or MSNBC???

    • The New York Yankees system is loaded with boom-or-bust talent in the lower levels of the minors, especially on the pitching side of things. It's a group with significant upside that is lacking in near-term MLB impact potential.
    • "He's a long ways from reaching his ceiling but has earned comparisons to the likes of Bo Jackson, Mickey Mantle and Mike Trout," wrote MLB.com on 16-year-old Jasson Dominguez. As a rule, I don't include prospects on my leaguewide top 100 list until they've made their pro debut, but he made me seriously consider amending my stance on that.
    • Toolsy young outfielders Kevin Alcantara, Antonio Cabello and Everson Pereira also have significant upside and could shoot up the organizational list with a strong start to 2020.

Who is? Go back and read the post again, and then take some more time to think about your reply.

I'll help you out and qoute the post here.....

I just heard on the FAN Judge has a broken rib. And the A-hole announcers are talking about if he has the rib removed he can be out a year.
Any one hear anything?

Andujar looks great in left. May have found a home with Judge out indefinitely.

I guess you call the NY Post for your own diagnosis.....and then Joe & Evan for a 2nd opinion? Lol.
So your just one of those people who never admit your wrong even when you get it jammed right into your puss, lol. PS. I brought up the Harvey example not because it was the same injury moron, I brought it because of the length of the recovery. I didn't realize you couldn't follow the bread crumb trail.

I clicked on an article on NJ.com yesterday that had the Yankees at #5. Tampa was #1. I don't recall who was doing the evaluating. And I just skimmed the article. I think they had Schmidt as the Yanks top prospect, with Dominguez second.
I'm sure there are any number of articles evaluating the minor league systems.
BTW, the Mets were way down the list.
