Why oh why did he bring up Clarke Schmidt if he wasn't gonna start him ?I put this on Cashman. Failed to get a REli ever or infielder at the deadline.
Not exactly the way you wanna start your career.

Again tonight....six of nine in the Yankees starting lineup aren't hitting their weight. Not impressed by anything King has done.
However, IMO the real problem with this team is the weak lineup. By my count in game #2 tonight they had a lineup with six of the nine spots not hitting their weight. And that's without Mister .130...Gary Sanchez.
Hicks (.206). Gardner (.188), Ford (.149), Andujar (.176), Wade (.170), Estrada (.188).
Seriously, when was the last time the Bronx Bombers fielded a lineup with so many holes ?
Next Man Up ain't working in 2020.
When was the last time we've seen five of the starting 9 batters for the Yankees hitting under the Mendoza line? I don't think I've ever seen it.Again tonight....six of nine in the Yankees starting lineup aren't hitting their weight.

Tonight's lineup was a real head scratcher. LeMahieu, Tauchman and Kratz on the bench and he picks Sanchez to DH. Mr. Strikeout. The whole league knows exactly how to strike him out by now.Has there ever been a DH who's hitting .130 like Gary Sanchez? Yankees should have forgone the DH tonight, I would rather see Gerrit Cole hit for himself.
If this keeps up they're gonna have to make a decision about Sanchez.Yup, if the season ended today, Yanks would be in final playoff spot as a wildcard. And Sanchez, batting fifth, got the golden sombrero. 7 k's in his last two games. Even the YES guys are questioning why the guy is still playing.
Trade him. Sign Realmuto. If this keeps up they're gonna have to make a decision about Sanchez.
The Yankees do need to address the injury issue. Last year was incredible as each "next man up" did better than the person they replaced. But that is not sustainable. Yanks do have a lot of good to reat players in their "two deep" to take a football term but the injury issue has just taken it's toll. Not impressed by anything King has done.

Why would they trade him when his value is so low ?Trade him. Sign Realmuto.
What do you realistically think he can bring back in a trade?Trade him. Sign Realmuto.
Who cares. Bullpen help maybeWhat do you realistically think he can bring back in a trade?
Really, really brutal. 😱I guess advanced metrics that say that batting average doesn't matter don't take into account when half the lineup can't even bat .200. Someone needs to change something because this is brutal to watch.
Realmuto is going to make at least 20 million a year in free agency for many, many year. Do you really want to do that? It's a Stanton contract in the making.Trade him. Sign Realmuto.
First Stanton got his contract based off two years being hot. Never a defensive good player. Where are JTs flaws??Realmuto is going to make at least 20 million a year in free agency for many, many year. Do you really want to do that? It's a Stanton contract in the making.
Another thing about his two good years.First Stanton got his contract based off two years being hot. Never a defensive good player. Where are JTs flaws??
Well, even if they don't make the playoffs their manager will make sure that they're well rested by then.Historically, these players aren't that bad at hitting. Its's truly a perfect storm of inept offense.
Right now, I'd say that Yankees won't even make the playoffs.
If the Mets get that new ownership... JT will playing with Alonso.Trade him. Sign Realmuto.
I'm not saying he's not worth good money or is a huge upgrade, but how many years and how much money do you want to give a catcher that will eventually become a DH down the line when you already have multiple DH type players on the roster? When Joe Mauer got his big contract, Minnesota regretted that contract for years. I admit he does not have many flaws right now.First Stanton got his contract based off two years being hot. What DH players will be on the roster 5-7 years from now? He is only 29 and doesn't have a history of anything that says he can catch in a few years.I'm not saying he's not worth good money or is a huge upgrade, but how many years and how much money do you want to give a catcher that will eventually become a DH down the line when you already have multiple DH type players on the roster? [roll]45 wins is within reach
Green and Ottavino were absolutely awful.10 runs the Yank bullpen gave up. Yikes.
If they don't start playing like the team we think they are instead of the way they've been for the last few weeks the bullpen will be getting plenty of rest real soon. They certainly need a change. There were some questionable decisions made in this game. Pitching to Gurriel in the 6th, who already had two hits in the game, instead of pitching around him to load the bases and pitch to Vilar with his .179 average to try for a double play, bringing Otto in, who works best with a clean slate, with 2 men on clearly was a huge distraction for him. It seemed like they all relaxed once the lead was at 4. It's like they're just following a checklist and going through the motions. They used six pitchers tonight and have to pray Happ of all people can go 7 tomorrow because the bullpen needs rest.
Stanton is there until 2028 or something like that. I'm not against JT at all, he's a good player. They can gladly dump Ellsbury's money into signing him. I just think it will turn into a long term problem. What DH players will be on the roster 5-7 years from now? He is only 29 and doesn't have a history of anything that says he can catch in a few years.
He really impressed me. Totally unflappable, has four pitches, a rising fastball which, right now at least, is fooling a lot of people. This Garcia guy looks pretty good.
