Actually Cashman has often said during interviews Torres is not a shortstop. Why does someone not a yankee fan know that and a yankee fan not?
The someone not a Yankee fan doesn't know anything about the Yankees.
Cashman's qoute on Fatso last November when Didi became a free agent.
"Some things just emerge and we'll have to wait and see, but there's no doubt Gleyber Torres did a really good job playing shortstop. That's his natural position. We didn't miss anything while he was playing there."

Regarding your comment I know nothing about Yankees. My uncle used to print and supply the yearbooks and scorecards for the Yankees so I know plenty about the organization. He had a box behind the dugout in old Yankee Stadium and I frequently attended with him. Just not a fan of the team.
And you don't think that statement was made to justify not signing Didi?

It's not the first or last time he has said that. So no. YES Network was also a big pusher of "it's his natural position" going into last year. And they get that info from the club.
I think the real decision came about because of DJ play and hitting last year.

After analyzing the season, it is clear that the Mets suck in 3 specific and distinctive ways:

Don't think Shane Bieber can continue the dominant performances he has had in this shortened season and is due for a clunker... hasnt been under much pressure isolated in the fan-free stadiums up to this point. But tonight he is out on the BIG STAGE ...aka "the postseason". I'm thinking he will crumble under the pressure of suddenly being in the spotlight......... the Yanks will take game 1 and go on to sweep the series

Uh, I've generally found that the Mets and Yankees fans that post here are not representative of Mets or Yankees fans in general. Most Mets fans I know are way more knowledgeable than the lot that "contribute" to this site.
And I've never used the expression "core four".
Actually, there were SIX teams that finished with worse records than the Mets....Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, Texas, Pittsburgh, and Arizona. So...something to build on.
