OT: NY Mets Season

It's too bad the Wilpons are friends with the Seligs. Otherwise the Mets wouldve had new owners just like the Dodgers did. And look how much better LA has been since the change of ownership.

Hell, both teams were about even in 2015... Since then...

Starting lineup today:
Leading off, Reyes 0.139 brilliant!
Why is Jay Bruce batting second? 0.235
Cespedes .248
Cabrera .327
Conforto .200
Gonzalez .233
Rosario .222
Nido .167

My grandmother's saying about the late 70s teams that sucked was "They couldn't hit a cow in the a-- with a shovel." Any cows within city limits are safe for the time being.

That's because the Wilpons/Sandy never gave a rat's arses about developing big time STUD prospects like the other organizations. And the one did well (Conforto, Smith, Rosario, Nido, Cecchini, Flores, Lagares, Plawecki, Matz, etc) have done SHITE!!!!! Even Harvey, degrom, Syndergaard got ripped by injuries.

Is your life so empty?

He @DJ Spanky - how 'bout we give ol' Kbong here a break from this thread?
Douche is on my ignore list. Never figured out what that is as the Avatar? A dead, demented rat? WTF is that thing.
My home page feeds updates from all of the KR boards. Apparently demented rat boy avatar guy is completely unhinged about Trump.

Sadly, the CE board has lost most of whatever appeal it had. It's kinda like what would happen if you locked Eldridge Cleaver and Benito Mussolini in a room and didn't feed them for a while...

Suggested new names for the CE Board:
The you suck! No, you suck! Board
Snowflakes vs. Trumpanzees

That board is like the Monty Python sketch where the guy goes in to buy an argument and he walks into the abuse room.

What I would do if I owned / managed this team after a combined 21-0 shellacking over these past 2 games at home:

- Tell Sandy he is done at the end of the year and hire a GM who can evaluate and draft talent. - as well as who can procure a Catcher several weeks ago.
- Re-energize the farm system via bringing in coaches who can develop players and make them ML ready sooner than later.
- Cut Reyes.
- Demote Harvey to Minors and keep him there.
-- Demote Nido and sign Miguel Montero.
- Demote Vargas until he proves he can pitch
- Put Gsellman and Lugo in rotation. No need for them in bullpen as how many games wil this team be winning.
- Play Nimmo. I would also entertain demoting Conforto so he can gain confidence and hit again.
- Bring up Dom Smith or Alonso and go with youth over Gonzalez.
- If team is meddling in June - everyone can be and should be traded (with 4 exceptions) and bring in GOOD YOUNG talent. Anyone is tradeable except DeGrom; Syndergard; Conforto and Rosario. They are my 4 untradeables.
- You can trade Cespedes; Familia; Matz; Cabrera and get good returns (and I would say GREAT returns for Cespedes and Familia) while trying to deal Bruce; Frazier but their contracts probably make them untradeable.

Do what the Marlins do...blow the ship up and come back strong in 2 seasons and/or what the Yankees did 2 years ago trading Miller etc and getting GREAT YOUNG Talent in Torres; Frazier etc.

Baseball is a young mans game and the Mets have too many 30 year old plus players and no speed.

Cespedes has a big contract right? Was joking, no way they trade the guy.

Interesting post. A few thoughts:
  • You can't send either Harvey or Vargas to the minors without their consent. You either keep them or release them. I can see Harvey being released at some point. No way they release Vargas and eat $16MM after only two starts.
  • Agree that sending Conforto down for awhile may help him. It has before.
  • Also agree moving Gsellman or Lugo into the rotation, not sure about both.
  • Would not rush either of the young first basemen.
  • You are WAY overstating the trade value of the players you cite. Cespedes is untradable unless the Mets pick up most of his contract, which ain't happening. Familia brings back what Reed brought back last year - a few mid-range prospects, but nothing great.
  • You want to blow up the ship and bring back great young talent? Put deGrom and Syndergaard on the market. They're the only guys who will bring back the talent you are looking for.

- You may be right on the Harvey / Vargas consent aspect to the minors but there was talk 1-2 weeks ago about demoting Harvey and I don't recall hearing about needing his consent.
- Cespedes can be traded though I agree the value of his contract will diminish what comes back in return. But if you get a desperate team such as Cleveland who needs offense then stranger things can happen.
- Houston's bullpen is imploding as I'm shocked they didnt't improve in this area during the offseason so I could see a Familia for excellent Astros young talent trade occur. Astros have tons of young talent on the farm. Familia brings back much more than Reed because he's a stopper and Reed was in the last year of his contract.

Good Points Dr. Worm.....

Another point is that after 2 days of embarrasment, the team needs to do something drastic to show this can't be tolerated. If George Steinbrenner was manning the ship, heads would be rolling. At a minimum, cut Reyes; demote Harvey ; put Vargas in bullpen and put Gsellman and/or Lugo in rotation. And give Nimmo a chance.

The last 2 games were beyond embarrassing. I would love it if they tried Nimmo out at 2B and move Cabrera back to SS. In addition, get rid of Harvey and Vargas as most on this board has said. Harvey is starting to become a cancer in the dugout. I am still mad at him for refusing to come out of the WS only to lose the lead. I would also see if they can get a catcher. In addition, they should also send Conforto and Rosario back to Vegas to work on their hitting. They also need to fire their hitting coach and ask their medical staff, what is going on? Two catchers are out and there was a scare to our #2 pitcher.

WHO THE F*CK GIVES 16 MILLION DOLLARS TO A GUY WITH AN 88 MPH FASTBALL???!????
Lol.....The Wilpons and Sandy Alderson......All you had to do was look at Vargas' ERA in 2nd half of the year which was over 6 and for a 35 year old pitcher - that is generally not a good sign....:)

This is not going to work. I see what's going on, but don't agree with it.

And I'm not talking about the Mets, Yankees or the Kentucky Derby.

Mixed emotions about this, but if he is refusing to go to the minors to work out his issues then good riddance. He always wanted to pitch for the Yankees so lets see if they sign him to a minor league contract and see if the Dark Knight moves to the Evil Empire.

Why do you post in riddles?

I think he signs with the Braves.
Won’t matter who he sign with. Highly doubt he ever becomes even close to the pitcher he once was. Will only take up a roster spot that should go to someone else

Yeah don't like these moved either. Ugh both Rutgers boards are going to suck.
