OT: NY Mets Season

Whoever decided to pay Vargas $16M should be shot. Not figuratively shot. Not shot in effigy. I'm talkin' good old fashioned, taken out back and Old Yeller shot.

An 88 mph fastball that just floats into right handed batters...Piazza could come out of retirement and hit that into orbit.

The Mets ruined Harvey in 2015 when they pushed him too much after TJ surgery. I bet he sues the organization.

Just stop before you make a complete fool of yourself.

Sue the Mets? You can’t be serious. And I hate the Mets.

Good riddance. It's not just the performance on the mound. The guy has an all-around bad attitude. He's not a team player. I wanted him gone last year.

A former coworker of mine knows Matt well and told me that this isn’t speculation.

I will be surprised if there is a strong demand to sign Matt Harvey for next season. Another lazy, entitled young pitcher who thinks the Galaxy revolves around him. See ya, wouldn’t want to be ya. Next.

At this point, the Mets' best option for a starting pitcher is Tatum O'Neal.

As a Mets fan, this year has been disheartening. The Mets are done. Time for another rebuild. They should trade deGrom and Syndergaard and rebuild their farm system for another chance in 5 years. Between Mets, Rutgers and Knicks, I don't know which franchise is worse.

The next three players that need to go are Wright, Vargas and Reyes. They are simply taking up roster spots from young players. It's a shame because I am a big David Wright fan but the guy will make a great manager someday.

Wright isn’t taking up anything ......

That is not entirely true. It is true that right now, Wright isn't taking up anything, as he is on the 60 day DL which does not count against the 40 man limit. However, in the offseason there is no DL and he does take up a spot on the 40 man. Which means that's one less prospect that the Mets are able to protect. But then again, since the Mets have so few prospects worth protecting, the point may be moot.

Who is the last met to be taken in the 40 man and kept, Wilson Ramos? Darren o day ?

So was he rule 5 or claimed on waivers ?
Claimed on waivers, but the basic point remains. Bradford was let go because there was no room for him on the 40 man. One of the spots on the 40 man was unnecessarily (IMHO) occupied by David Wright.

Josh Smoker is another example. He was waived (and eventually traded in a minor deal) because the Mets needed a spot on the 40 man when they re-signed Reyes.

Wanted Wright traded after 2006 playoffs
Wanted him gone after his putrid 2015 WS that no one talks about but yeah... Good point!!!

As crazy as this sounds TODAY, I still say to this day that the Mets made the wrong choice in keeping Wright over Reyes. Reyes was built for Citi Field as he lead the league in triples that one year and I honestly think he would be the HOF caliber type of he was offered a contract to stay. Then again, the Mets would have to been wise to build a team around Citi Field, a fast young team that can cover the outfield and hit for doubles/triples.

DWright on the other hand became such a mind job at Citi that they had to move in the fences TWICE so that he can hit those homeruns to right center that no one else had a problem hitting there. Plus moving in the fences became a moot point when MLB juiced the baseballs a couple of years ago.

Just another reason that shows Sandy has to go!!!!!

I also wanted HoJo traded immediately after the 40/40 year, but they never listen. :)

And yeah saw enough with Wright when it mattered in 2006. 2015 was no surprise - glad for his sake he hit the jack in G3.

I agree that Sandy sucks but he still have to work with the tight constraints from the Wilpons.
I am wondering if Wright's continued presence on the roster is insurance related. Maybe the insurance company is unwilling to accept the premise that his injury is career ending, and are only willing to pay off a year at a time.

Not ready to fire anybody, but that was curious game management today by Mickey. Why not let Ramos bat in the 7th with two out and nobody on? Not saying the outcome would have been different (Ramos can give it up with the best of them) but at least you wouldn't have had to pitch hit with Nido with the game on the line in the 9th.
