Wow, think how many people probably never bothered to file a complant against him because they thought nothing would come of it.
As a purely anecdotal point of reference, a buddy of mine from HS has been on the job in NYC since 1995. He has has more than 1,700 arrests. He has.......

NO civilian complaints.

Now that says a lot right there! Obviously,if you treat people the way you'd want your own family treated, the general public will respect the job your trying to do.

If you listen to the beginning of the video, it sounds like the driver mouthed off to the officer and was indignant. Office said he could write him up for 5 traffic violations. The officer is on the joint terrorism task force--not an easy job. Put yourself in the officer's shoes. you pull a guy over for a traffic violation, and he mouths off to you and asks why are you stopping me. I'd be pissed too. Is the officer's reaction inappropriate--probably, but out of control--I don't think so.

Millenials have created a culture where it is cute to disrespect and taunt the police, and it is becoming more difficult to be a police officer.
You don't think that cop was out of control? Are you serious?

Nothing about that video showed even an ounce of restraint by that douchebag? Why do you also fail to mention that the cop was double-parked with no blinker on...in front of a green light?
you consider that cop out of control??? I agree he didn't show restraint and was disrespectful bur outta control? please.

as far as double parking he's a cop isn't he? they do have different rules than we do don't they? their cops!

The cop was reportedly in an unmarked vehicle, double-parked on a NYC street near a green light with no turn signal, hazard, or reverse lights indicating his intentions to park or otherwise proceed. They're cops, but it's not other motorists' responsibility to distinguish their unmarked vehicles that happen to be improperly driven/parked, and subsequently pussyfoot around them.

Not sure why this guy is a national story but the Linden cop driving the wrong way on the West Shore Expressway, killing 2, after having a previous DUI, 8 car accidents, and mysterious DUI dismissal after literally driving into a store...is not a story at all?

That story more than this, or Ferguson or Eric Garner, goes to show the real impunity that police officers have...how many of us in the private sector could get away with multiple DUIs and make a cool 90k with no repurcussions? It would be funny if two people didn't die as a result....

It has nothing do with race, Uber, or anything else...it's that cops are held to a different standard which is pay them out the wazoo, discipline them never, and act like they are infallible, or else...why is the question?

I had an incident a few years ago where I was stopped at a red light on Route 46. The guy behind me wasn't paying attention and drove into me. It turned out that he was an off duty cop. He claimed that I had reversed and driven into him - at a red light on Route 46!

It was my word against his. As if that wasn't bad enough, a couple of days later two witnesses went to the Police station and said they saw me reverse into the cop's car!

I couldn't do anything but accept responsibility. As much as I hate to admit it, my view on all police was prejudiced and remains so.

I think I have a problem - I'm totally hooked on opening OT posts like this just that I can read what bizarre thing CaliKnight will say.

UMRU

Just watch Hannity, I've seen him parrot the lines verbatim. He's on double duty because a bunch of his friends were banned and is now basically trying to turn all threads into a far right spectacle.

Love it. Getting spoken of in threads I don't even post in. Don't let me in your heads so easily, as right as I am, it is a sign of weakness.

Um you did post here actually.

And you took the thread way off topic...the last of the Mohicans may be headed of the island...

I did. But not about you or anyone else here.

Not sure who these people you keep referring to are. Please list them. Be specific.

Homophobic....hilarious. Just can't see through any other lens, can you?

You should stick to the CEsspool board , where you can spout your homophobia, xenophobia, bigotry , and hatred with the other 6 of your buddies.

What is it with you libs and histrionics? Thankfully, the ones I know, are capable of having real discussion.

Come to the CE board. People there welcome debate. You just better bring more to the table than some cut and paste phobia stuff. Weak sauce.

Why is it that even fully grown adult republicans/conservatives, even those in their 50's and 60's...need to resort to childish nicknames for the politicians and other people they don't agree with?

There should really be a study on this phenomena. Is it because of your hero worship of conservative radio personalities that all like to have their cute little nicknames?

I don't think it's limited to conservatives, but it's certainly lame.

Agree. IfChristie was a Dem I'd bet we would have seen countless R's talking about his weight. Probably even feel the need to toss around fat jokes in threads that have nothing to do with him. However, since Dems don't do this I've never seem it here. In fact, I'm sure I have never seen you post in those types of non existent threads.

Yea cops have different rules than we do on duty or off duty. they can do what they want who/s gonna stop them another cop? Cops only enforce the laws upon themselves when they HAVE TO. They will always look the other way for themselves.
"The Thin Blue Line" They where a badge their special and privileged and don't you forget it.

This guy should be treated the same as if he was in any other profession and be fired on the spot.

Are you going to address the OP or just defend your friend who violated board rules?

This thread was not political until Cali- AGAIN-

1) Took the thread off topic
2) Name called
3) Accused of others of "histrionics". It must be on his word a day calendar.

An actual conservative would have said something like hudson did. Because he can constructively contribute, without ensuring the thread would have to be closed or moved. Because he can actually examine an issue without instantly seeing if there was some lens that demanded a partisan viewpoint.

I thought you were capable of that, suppose I was wrong.

And of course you guys have names for Hillary. Who cares...Christie is not a serious candidate anyway and if he were his weight is last on the list of his abhorrent (and not conservative even) record.

OTOH, DeBlasio

1) Not running for office at the moment
2) His sexuality is irrelevant and way, way off topic. The name calling is expected but nonetheless pathetic
3) Has no control over individual officer discipline

So now that you want to defend your buddy can you explain why he shouldn't be banned?

Let's clarify. Someone brought up Christie who isn't even an NYC resident, which this thread is referencing. Certainly the actual Mayor of the city is, especially when his policies are leading to an unprecedented rise in violent crime.

DeBlowio isn't referencing his sexuality. It's referencing how badly he sucks. What is it with some of you guys and everything being gay? He is married, and as far as I know, his wife is the former gay one. See link.

Law, was that a choice or did her chemistry change?

http://www.out.com/news-opinion/2013/09/03/when-bill-de-blasios-wife-was-lesbian

Should a person who constantly uses thinly disguised Homophobic words & attacks be banned ? PS- The RU AD is gay &. RU had a tragedy w a gay student (Clemente) commit suicide in a very high profile story. Constant Gay Bashing from the creeps on the CEsspool side deserve to be kicked off here. They put RU in a bad light.

Like I said, it isn't thinly veiled anything. The guy is married, to a former lesbian oddly enough.

Keep beating the drum, it's all you got.

Factually untrue, and still irrelevant, because this was about a cop yelling at an Uber driver for a supposed vehicular infraction.

And are we 5 years old that the bad behavior of others allows us to act out and name call?

And now you're making the thread- again- about your homophobia.

Pathetic.
