OT: Peyton Manning Sexual Assault

I don't care enough to look into it deeper, but are they talking about the potty mouth story or the locker room story where Peyton allegedly dropped his drawers?

Unless you read it you can continue to believe its about him "dropping his drawers" that is the spin. But the 74-page document details a bit more that that, and there is an incident 2-yrs prior to that the mannings had redacted, as it is likely something a bit worse.

Before going any farther, it’s important to understand what the 74-page document is, and what it isn’t. The 74-page document is a piece of advocacy. The 74-page document is something that was written by the lawyers representing Jamie Ann Naughright in her defamation case against the Mannings. The 74-page document is, necessarily, one-sided.

The 74-page document is not objective. The 74-page document is not supposed to be objective. The 74-page document is not a court order or any other decision made by a neutral party. And, ultimately, the 74-page document is incomplete without comparing it to the corresponding “Facts of the Case” document submitted by the defendants in the case."
I fear your attempt to encourage thoughtfulness will be mostly wasted. People love to rush to judgement.

As an aside, kind of interesting tie to University of Tennessee and the same time period--Julie Hermann was accused in 1997 of abusing her volleyball players:
"“We have been lied to, publicly humiliated, and ripped apart as both players and people ... It is very difficult to respect someone who refers to her players as whores, alcoholics and learning disabled.”
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...ry-abusing-student-athletes-article-1.1354939

The original story alleged folks at U-T called women athletes some unsavory names.

IF all of that is true, that is quite the culture at UT--athletics uber alles.

Even interesting to tie into what came out last week about Tennessee athletics today.

Seems to be going on for quite some time.

Which of the recent events discussed on this board do you consider the worst potrayal of an individual's character rank them 1-6 worst to least offensive from a character and personal standpoint(if true) I am interested in seeing these side by side

A. Bill Cosby accusations
B. Cam Newton not diving for a football
C. Peyton Manning getting free advertising plugs in
D. Princeton professor accusations
E. Peyton Manning assault and cover up accusations
F. Steve Politi and his journalism

My rank worst up A, E, D, F, B, C
I don't give much thought to any of them (except Politi). Basically I see it as none of my business. I'll worry about my own character.

When did America go from a country that seemed to have a good sense of respecting the privacy of others to this reality-TV culture where everybody feels they deserve to know all the dirt on everybody else? We're become a society of nosy gossips desperately seeking someone else to judge.

Were we always this way?

There is certainly a swirl of bad stuff there, just like at PSU during Sandusky. Multiple accusers and multiple incidents.

The tougher ones to sort out, however, are the stories like Peyton Manning's, where it is one person's word against another's. With Julie-it seemed there were quite a few players who came out against here. With the recent UT incident, same type of situation (I think).

Say what you want about dear old Rutgers--when the shit came out about Flood, Rutgers was on it right away--addressed it, and did not hide from it. And what Kyle Flood did was relatively minor compared to what happens in other schools. I don't condone it--it is still wrong, but it is alarming how we got painted as a "disaster" for some minor stuff. Now couple the Flood incident with the arrests, the Mike Rice thing and the Julie fiasco, a bunch of small fires are now a conflagration.

Yup..which is why it seems like in the media RU is painted as so bad. It's cause RU usually does the right thing and releases info..gets to the bottom of scandals. It makes us look bad..but it's the right thing to do.

"Polk County Circuit Judge Harvey A. Kornstein not only denied the motion but put Peyton Manning, his father, and the others on blast. In his statement, he said:

"Even if the plaintiff is a public figure, the evidence of record contains sufficient evidence to satisfy the court that a genuine issue of material fact exists that would allow a jury to find, by clear and convincing evidence, the existence of actual malice of the part of the defendants.

"Specifically, there is evidence of record, substantial enough to suggest that the defendants knew that the passages in question were false, or acted in reckless disregard of their falsity. There is evidence of record to suggest that there were obvious reasons to doubt the veracity of Peyton Manning's account of the incident in question. The court further finds that there is sufficient evidence to permit the conclusion that the defendants entertained serious doubts as to the truth of the passages in this case."

In other words, Judge Kornstein said that there is evidence to support the conclusion that Peyton Manning lied in his book about the incidents and knew that he was lying about the incidents.

The court documents are damning to Peyton and Archie Manning.

This is actually a fairly low threshold to overcome. The judge felt that there was enough evidence/contradiction for a jury to decide one way or the other. Jumping to conclusions based on documents submitted by Plaintiff's counsel is dangerous.

"In an interview with The Associated Press in November, Archie Manning said he believes his son had been punished enough for a mistake he made seven years ago." (from a 2003 article on the lawsuit settlement)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1694048

Well if Archie says he has suffered more than enough I think that settles it. He clearly can speak on justice for the rest of society based on the fact that he and his sons are good at football and never failed to kiss a sponsor, booster, or reporter's arse.

....Shaun King wants to know why no one is writing about the pic of Newton congratulating Peyton? It's likely the same reason why he'll never write a story about Josh Norman owning his post-SB press conference like a champ or about a cop helping somebody- it won't sell more papers.

For some additional perspective - and maybe some hesitation regarding rushing to judgment on an item that has been through the wringer already ....
also - definitely do not take the 78 page Argument written entirely by Naughright's attorney as some sort of 'finding of fact' - it is not.

Jamie Ann Naughright attempted to sue Donna Karan & Co for damages - all portions of the case against Karan were dismissed - don't know how the malpractice suit against the therapist was resolved
http://www.leagle.com/decision/In FDCO 20120309B71/NAUGHRIGHT v. WEISS

- gut reaction - Naughright would be somebody you would want to steer clear of - for many reasons .

Holy mackerel, Batman!!!!
In fairness, however, the case as dismissed as to Donna Karen Weiss, but not as to Robbins.
It was later dismissed as to Merrell too:
https://casetext.com/case/naughright-v-robbins

"According to the Amended Complaint, Robbins' treatment included applying traction to Naughright's neck, following by violent shaking of her head repeatedly from side to side. Robbins held Naughright's forehead down and pulled on her jaw. He also placed an ungloved hand adorned by a large ring inside Naughright's mouth and then shook Naughright's head. While Robbins' hand was in Naughright's mouth, Robbins informed Naughright that she needed to "let go" because she had control issues. Robbins then offered to massage Naughright's breasts and declared that Naughright's left breast was dead. Robbins suggested that Naughright needed a "vagina release" procedure. Naughright refused these treatments.

The Amended Complaint alleges that Robbins' treatment caused serious and permanent injury to Naughright, including the rupture of a cervical disk in her neck causing multiple bulging discs, stenosis and a mid-thoracic herniated disc. Robbins also fractured and dislocated Naughright's jaw, causing damage to her hearing and balance, and the treatments caused a spinal fusion which has required a bone graft in Naughright's neck. As a result of these injuries, Naughright has had to undergo surgeries and diagnostic procedures, and she has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and double crush syndrome. Naughright was unable to drive a car for more than a year, was unable to perform daily tasks and was unable to return to her employment."

To survive a motion to dismiss pursuant to Rule 12(b)(6), "a complaint must contain sufficient factual matter, accepted as true, to `state a claim to relief that is plausible on its face.'"

SMH…the sh*t I saw and did myself!'
I can't even begin to mention what went on in the NFL and MLB I was a willing participant of.
They include hall of fame heroes and American Icons.
Say it ain't so, Joe.

Okay, so I Googled "vagina release procedure".

Couldn't really find anything other than a sorta-kinda Yoga-ish thing called "Internal Pelvic Release".

Read at your own peril.

Yep, like I wonder why he doesn't write about issues like this?

Yikes! .... I was totally willing to stop at simply saying that it just seemed like Naughright comes across as somebody that you might not want to just grant total instant credibility to ... you might want to do a pretty intense credibility test on what she and / or her 'advocates' try to advance as the "truth"

I went to HS with the girl...in Jersey.
he did it - she sued and got paid.
then he and Archie wrote about in a book - she sued and got paid again.

lol - rocket scientist's the Manning's are not.

She also went on to sue the designer Donna Karan...so i think Peyton did it but she is - how do i say it with out getting sued myself...she is batshit crazy but still pretty hot.
imo

Details of a pretty terrible act he did while at Tennessee. Let's see if ESPN picks this up. Hmmm.

Shaun King is a Black Lives Race Baiter who is white!!!! He's hid his identity and claimed he was black and it was proven his biological father is white. It was already known his mother was white. So you're going to believe the bias story this scumbag who lied about the color of his skin?

Just google Shaun King white and it's there.

King also supported that lying dbag Princeton professor without waiting for the facts, now of course the video came out and shows her to be nothing but a race-baiting liar, just like King. And KIng hasn't mentioned it since.

And if Cam Newton won the Super Bowl, King would have never gone after Manning, this a white-black issue with King and more proof he's nothing but a POS who wants to divide us racially.

Shaun King got publically exposed as a fraud and nobody should ever believe a word he says

You mean getting caught lying about your race as well lying about being assaulted because of your race are reasons to question his integrity?
