OT: Prime Time will crash and burn

Are we talking Cowboys or TCU?
The question was about why he gets so much hate, and was it a Texas thing. And I'm saying for the most part, he is well-liked in Texas from his Cowboys days, especially in the greater Dallas area (which I consider Ft. Worth and TCU to be).

Coach Prime one of the greatest players ever and has major SWAG - he is going to recruit like there's no tomorrow. Total player's coach. If his X's and O's are on point sky is the limit. I do not see him failing - on the contrary I see him being EXTREMELY successful!
His son completing 81% of his passes for 510 yards and 4 TD didn't hurt.

Don't tell that to someone from Ft. Worth

Yeah, I get it, there are those that are all draconian about that. To me, St. Pete might as well be Tampa. St. Paul might as well be Minneapolis. And I may be in the minority, but I don't think the New York DMA ends when somebody crosses from the Bronx into Mt. Vernon or Queens Village onto the Island. From my point of view it's all the New York DMA; we watch NY channels, get NY papers, etc. (I understand that I'm not a politician or tax collector or cop worried about jurisdiction.)

I think what ru baby was saying was the obligation and responsiblity, not guilt, is still on Sanders as a partner. I don't think he was blaming Sanders

he's right
In essence yes.

But putting aside what he knew or did or should have done, to state he has had nothing but success when the school was a well publicized failure that he was all over in the media when it started, is just factually incorrect. That's not debating the merits of his actions, just his clear less than success on all issues-and this was not a minor one.

His W on saturday was impressive. The talent appears way improved. Can it last then season and multiple recruiting classes and program building as opposed top short term talent infusion-we will see. Will be interesting.

Can college kids have sneaker deals like NIKE?
I mean coaches and schools do . Seems like a potential lawsuit!

Seats are socially distanced? So what, they put 2 empty seats between everyone?

That would be good for avoiding people who don't shower often enough or people who spit when they talk, I guess.

I just want to know if, after purchasing a socially distantanced seat, we can bring our favorite sheep to the game and let them sit in one of the empty seats.

heck nike signed two high school players to NIL deals
Nike's NIL Deals: Full List of Nike High School and College Athletes
>The first high school athletes Nike signed to NIL deals were high school women’s soccer sensations Alyssa and Gisele Thompson in May of 2022. The Thompson sisters signed multi-year deals with Nike and have starred on the USA national youth soccer team and at their high school, Harvard Westlake High School in Los Angeles.<

Yep.

247 had his composite as 4 star:
I didn't know that either and that's a thing to note. Everyone just assumes massive NIL for any and every player that are contributors or that high star ratings are up and down a roster etc..

Colorado got a handful of high rated players, some brought from JSU but the rest are just your average rated player from what I've read. It's not a team loaded with stars all over. It's just for one game at least, they made sure their best players got the ball a lot.

There's this assumption that if a team performs well it must be NIL or must be loaded up and down the roster with high star players. For the top status teams sure that can be the case but for most of the rest of CFB that's not usually the case.

I follow Whitlpck on FB and read that yesterday.
I think he's misinterpreting Sanders' race comments

"Twitter has convinced Sanders that white football fans and coaches feel threatened by his skin color and ascension to head coach at a Power 5 school. It’s as if he’s unaware that he replaced a black head coach at Colorado and that black players dominate most locker rooms.

No one’s threatened, Deion. They’re annoyed."

Its not about "a black coach" and fans per se but about a black coach with a lot of extra appeal for top recruits that normally flock to the top 12 teams and especially the SEC. Travis Hunter dropping FSU for Jackson was a crack in in the wall that woke coaches up and now the crack is going to be a breach. The old guard is crumbling and they know it.

Clemson was already getting hosed by the portal and LSU is a bad team. Bama has been in decline. A reason I like Sanders is that he's breaking the recruiting lock that makes the same 6 teams likely fav for the natty. Its boring for every year to be about Bama, LSU, GA, Clem, Auburn et al with OSU hovering.

Col Recruiting should be a monster the next years if Prime stays healthy (not a given). It wont just be because Sanders is black because other black coaches couldn't do what he does. As a player, no other coach has his resume but the thing many players like is his serious sense of commitment and values tangled-up with his brah-swag. A lot of CO players never had fathers like DS and they eat it up. You have to follow him to know how he rolls.

TCUs RB (Trey Sanders) was a #1 in nation recruit who scored 3 TDs vs Col. He got hurt and Sanders was out on the field to see him. They were hugging after the game. The top player of the team just beat is over hugging the winning coach. Trey had joked about wanting to go to Col after Sanders got the job. Like Hunter, Trey is a very religious person. The super talented guys with high character are the guys Sanders draws. He wont be having a team of shop-lifters and girl beaters. This will be a huge draw. Co had coaches/players in tears on sidelines. ND's Marcus Freeman cant do that, Jason Whitlock can't do that. Squeaky clean is not as good as dirty with new polish.

I watched whitlocks podcast and I sort of agree with him. It's exciting to watch Colorado and seems like he's put together a really good team. He just lacks humility and seems very insecure. He tells kids to not care what people think and then very obviously cares what everyone thinks about him.

He says that you shouldn't disregard any recruit (Briles at FSU who offered his son btw) and then disregards more than half of the Buff team making them transfer. It's hypocritical.

I'm definitely watching Colorado for the hype though. Don't really have strong feelings either way but you can't blame people for not loving his lack of humbleness and his "look at me" attitude.

That can have negative consequences. One of the big reasons Rutgers got Brian Leonard was the way they treated his brother.

Embarassing post @ScarletDog

You appear over your head here.
It’s still early…and his cockiness is even more over the top. Taking receipts…everything is about him. Let’s watch the season and see how he plays out.

And “embarrassing post?” Sorry but I don’t know how anybody in their right mind can be embarrassed about a post on a message board. Could I be wrong…sure. But never embarrassed for stating an opinion.

People don't know what was going on with the Col team.
Football teams are a big army and you have a mix of saints and goblins.
Once the goblins are the dominant force on a team the culture goes to seed (like under Flood).
Col had a long running crime problem and more than a few players didn't care about winning games anymore. Sanders said that you cant make big changes with the same players who brought you down. Hard to argue about that

He also saw old players didn't love football (a #1 quality the good coaches look for)

"On Friday, Sanders said there were some players who didn’t love the game of football when he took over as head coach.

"It was tremendously tough, because you had some young men that just didn’t want to play the game. They didn’t love football. It’s hard for me to be effective if you don’t love it, if you don’t like it, if you don’t want to live it. That’s tough," Sanders said when asked whether it was difficult implementing his program when he first took over.

"That's tremendously tough when you’re looking at a body of just dead eyes. That’s tough on any coach, not just me. I’m pretty sure a multitude of coaches have experienced that until they could clean house and get the roster they want. It was tremendously challenging day by day. I’m happy with what I see every morning now. I really am."

That's awfully convenient that the 2 and low 3 star recruits all didn't like football but the higher rated recruits did. Pretty crazy.

Every coach wants players who "love football." When Greg talks up his best players, you almost always hear "love football." Don't know many endeavors in life that people excel when they hate the activity.

Exactly. Just be honest. You want a team full of talented players. This isn't T-ball. Don't say that they have "dead eyes" or don't care about football.

People are allowed not to like Deion's attitude. Newsflash, people generally don't like people who are arrogant and full of themselves. This is the same guy who drew dollar signs in the batters box when he was younger and honestly it doesn't seem like he's changed a whole lot.
